“Havelock Hotel - Cannot be bettered.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2009

Myself, husband and teenage son has stayed at the Havelock now on 5 occassions. I have to say that every time has been fantastic. But on booking the hotel in April of this year. We were informed that the hotel has new owners and we were a little bit apprehensive. But I have to say there was no need to be.

Having stayed already at the hotel 4 previous times. We really thought that there was no way we would have such an enjoyable stay as before. But we did. Dave and Ann are absolutely wonderful. They are professional and friendly. There is nothing too much trouble for them. They make you feel so welcome. All the staff are brilliant too.

The rooms are lovely and have been redecorated. They are spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic. They serve snacks during the day till the early evening. There is a wonderful bar area to relax. As well as a splendid pool which is heated, with plenty of sun loungers. A raised decking area which is a real sun trap, where you can also have a drink and have something to eat.

The hotel has seaviews from some rooms. The beach, shops and resturants are only a short walk away. There is so much to see and do. Shanklin is a lovely little seaside town.

We will be going back again in the not too distant future.

I have just come back from a week in Shanklin staying at The Havelock, which I chose from the excellant reviews. This hotel is fantastic! The rooms are spotless and very well appointed, with everything you could need. The clean white towells are changed as often as the visitor requires and there is fresh milk and coffee etc every day. I had a lovely room on the ground floor with a gorgeous view across the gardens to the sea beyond. The breakfast choice is huge and as a vegetarian it was a nice change to be well catered for. The breakfast set me up for the day. The heated pool and terrace are a real treat after a hard day on the beach and the lounge bar is a great place to relax in the evening. Dave and Ann were very friendly and went the extra mile to make my stay really enjoyable. one of the best holidays I have had, due in no small part to my stay at The Havelock Hotel. I thoroughly recommend this hotel. Will be back next year without a doubt.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Havelock for 2 nights. Initially when i was looking for somewhere to stay in Shanklin i decided i wanted a hotel which was close to the beach, village and most importantly classy. I can say that the "Havelock" ticked all those boxes.

The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and have those extra touches which i feel important. The view from the sea front bedrooms are great and well worth those extra pounds.

The breakfasts are varied to suit all tastes and extremely tasty.

A lovely hotel!!

Have stayed in a few hotels & guest houses on the Isle of Wight and this was really the icing on the cake.As good as a five star hotel but with value for money. The food was delicious, the location perfect, close to sea and town.Cleanliness was second to none and the outside pool was delightful & well sheltered .To top it all we had 4 days of hot sunshine. Will definitely go back again.

We have just returned from a three night stay at The Havelock, I researched the hotel at Trip Advisor before I booked and I must say we were not dissapointed. The location at the end of a road virtually next to the pretty Shanklin Chine was ideal. The room had lovely views out to sea, and was in walking distance of the beach, town and places to eat, Fishermans Cottage on the beach by the Chine offered fantastic value for money and wonderful meals.
The room was spotlessly clean and decorated in fresh colours. Tea and coffee making facilities, a TV, hairdryer and toiletries were provided. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cooked meals and a well presented cold buffet station. The staff were all warm and friendly and very helpful. The visitors lounge/bar was very comfortable, in fact it felt more like being at home than in the 'usual' kind of hotel lounge. The hotel bar drinks were also very affordable which was another plus.
On the whole a wonderful stay, we would most certainly stay there again.

A wonderful, small-ish hotel for a short break with a personal touch. Wish we could have had one of the balcony rooms but apart from that it was a fantastic stay. The staff are top notch!

We stayed in one of the smaller double rooms overlooking the pool. It was a perfect base for a weekend away, amazingly clean, and modern decor. The bathroom was spotless, and the bed was more comfortable than our own at home. The breakfast was a buffet of cereals, fruit, croisants etc, followed by as much or as little of an English breakfast you wanted. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Location perfect for the Old Village part of Shanklin and easy to get around to the rest of the island. Would definitely visit again if on the island and recommend to friends and family.
