The Havelock is very well-located - 15 min walk from the tram station, next to the old village, and a stone's throw from the beach. We were happy enough after our first stay to return for a second time, although our first experience was more enjoyable since we had the balcony room then. That room is very spacious, with a comfortable king-size bed and an additional single bed. The balcony offers impressive views of the sea and a lovely space to relax. The bathroom was not outstanding but still very clean and decent. The second room we had was a standard with sea view, much smaller and the double bed was too small for us to feel truly comfortable. We would definitely recommend spending a little extra for the balcony room. Having said that, both rooms were modern and well-decorated. It was a little noisy in the room (sounds from neighbouring rooms and the lounge) but mostly quiet after 11pm. Breakfast was very nice, and the additional buffet of croissants, cereals and yoghurt was well appreciated. The owners are lovely and overall, we had a very nice time there.

We stayed with Anne and Dave for the first time and would definitely return. What a lovely clean and comfortable place.
They made us very welcome, especially during our late chats with the odd one or two Cointreau's !!
Havelock is situated in an excellent position, ideal for the beach, Old Shanklin (which we loved) and exploring the Island.
There is a swimming pool on the roof but unfortunately we didn't get to try this as we were so busy travelling around the island.
One evening we had dinner at Legends (Black Rock Grill) which was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking our steak and prawns on our own individual hot rock but beware they do not accept credit cards. It could have been very embarrassing but thankfully between the 4 of us we managed to have enough cash.
Another evening was spent at Pavarotti's, this was excellent and I can recommend the Veal in a mustard and cream sauce. yummm.
We found some lovely places tucked way and enjoyed fresh crab and lobster.
To sum up. It was a great weekend made all the better by fantastic weather and great accommadation. Thank You Dave and Anne

Beautiful hotel, pool, dining room and rooms. The owners were very friendly and polite. The facilities were lovely, the location was spot on. We had three in family room, plenty of room, the rooms we veery tastfully decorated. The bedroom window didnt open enough for three ladies with a hair dryer to get enough air in !!! but the safety lock in place as should be. The pool was lovely. Breakfast was fantastic, plenty of choice, quick and very pleasent service from the staff. Will be going back with my family. The hotel was far enough away from everyting but a short walk to the old town or esplanade.

We picked this hotel after reading a load of reviews for many different B&B's on the IOW. I read all the reviews for this one and decided to take a chance. What a good decision. The hotel was just what we wanted. It is spotlessly clean, very homely, and the owners
Anne and Dave are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble.
From our room we had a beautiful sea view. The beach is a three minute walk from the hotel. Shanklin Old village is a three minute walk in the opposite direction. Shankiln Chine is two minutes away. This hotel is so well placed for everything. But the thing that really sold us was the rooftop swimming pool. It is in a real suntrap corner. What a bonus. We enjoyed a morning and afternoon swim most days and it was great.
In fact the first day we arrived I mentioned that I would like to go for a swim right away, and within minutes Anne appeared with two fresh cups of coffee, and two bathe sheets so we didn't have to use our room towels.
The breakfasts are something to behold, from fruit and cereal to a full english, all perfectly cooked fresh to order, with all the toast and jams you can hope for. The morning staff are all lovely, and are there whenever you need anything.
The hotel had free wifi, and if you needed to borrow ann iron/board it was available
Dave runs a bar in the evening, it was so so nice to have a wander back from an evening out to sit and have a chat and a drink with some of the other guests, just to sit and unwind. But if you prefer to go up to your room instead there was no pressure to do otherwise. All in all a very nice break.
We will be going back as soon as possible

One of the best B&Bs we have stayed in.

Pros
- Modern decor in the room, modern bathroom, balcony looking out ot the sea.
- Good decor throughout common areas.
- Great selection of cereals, fresh fruit salad, hot meals and even freshly baked, warm croisants.
- Short stroll to high street / restaurants / old thatched roof cottages / beachfront
- Extremely friendly owners
- Endless supply of mints on the reception desk.
- Free WiFi

Cons
- A bit noisy at night untl about 11pm. Not sure if this was from people talking in the lounge below us, or in the next room. Probably quieter in other areas of the house.
- Parking could be a squeeze at busy times (you might have another car blocking you in)
