We stayed for four nights and had such a great time! Its situated in the perfect area, walk down the road to the stunning beach- in reach of all the best restraunts and shops. The Old village is literally round the corner and is picturesque. The rooms are modenly furnished and the pool brilliant! We had such a great time and would definatly go back-and planning too! The owners are very friendly and there to help and make suggestions of the best places in town, but it was the breakfast waitresses that became friends. We were sad to say goodbye to Ann & Sue because me made such good friends in them. Definatly want to return to shanklin!

This was our first year of doing a British holiday. Shanklin was very nice and we were pleasantly surprised that all of the shops stayed open till 9 in the evening so lots to do.
The lady and Gentleman who own and operate this hotel are wonderful so very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They have a green book in the lounge with menus for all the local resturants and bars and a folder in the room with all the local info.
We payed extra to have the seaview superior room with the king size bed. There was a flat screen telly on the wall with freeview which was nice and the bed was to die for! I was a bit dissapointed that the bathroom was so small but you can't have it all. We were disturbed a couple of times the first night by the teenagers in the room next door playing loud music and the last night of our stay we were kept awake by the couple next door shouting and swearing in the corridor and banging the doors. However this said neither of the above where the owners fault or would prevent us from staying again.
The breakfast was lovely, very quick service and nice food. Lots to do on the isle of Wight even if it is raining I recommend osborne house, and godshill. We enjoyed food at the village in in Shanklin and drinking at the king henry and fishermans pub. Wouldn't bother with the Crab if i went again bit like a weatherspoons cheap if you have a whole family to feed though.

Hotel and staff very friendly and helpful. Room spotless and room maid came in everyday plenty of tea and coffee facilities left in your room. 10 minute walk to some really nice restaurants. Pembletons and Pavarottis absolutely a must. Great service and food. Also Village Inn is good. Walk down to the seafront 5 minutes from hotel and the Steamers Inn on Shanklin seafront is nice for a light lunch. Also the Spyglass Inn on Ventnor Esplanade is really nice food and large portions with a great view. We also went to the Crab and Lobster which is right on the edge of Bembridge but is well worth a visit the lunch menu is very good. The walk to Sandown from Shanklin is very pleasant and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes along the seafront..
It is worth a trip to Alum Bay to see the Needles, coloured sand and the craftsmen at work in the glass studio is very interesting. There is plenty of things to see and do on the island it is easy to get around by car.

Took my wife away for her birthday. A lovely 4* hotel. Owners were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was delightful and all the staff were very polite and friendly. We were in a room at the back of the hotel. We liked this as we were right at the top so no one walked past our room - we are boring old farts!! The room was immaculate and very clean. Lovely comfortable soft bed. Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. We had an amazing time. We always say we wouldn't go to the same place twice but we got home and were looking at dates to book for next year!!!

Just returned from a short break here with a friend. Booked 2 single rooms. Room no.1 at rear of hotel. This was spotlessly clean with plenty of room for one person and had a sea view! Room no. 16 was situated at the side of the hotel which didn't have a view but was still very clean and perfectly adequate. The lounge area was a delight to return to after an evening out. Staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable particulary the breakfast staff. The breakfast menu was extensive, delicious and beautifully presented, it set us up for a day of exploring. I would definately return here and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on the island.

Super location - just a 5 second stroll to the beautiful Old Shanklin beach and chine. Also 5 min walk into town and the ghost walks on a Sunday from Old Shanklin are recommended! Immaculate and well decorated rooms with extremely comfortable beds and a super high powered shower and very lovely smelling grapefruit shampoo / shower gel and antiseptic handwash! Good selection of teas and coffee in room in addition to hot chocolate although biscuits would not go a miss! It was lovely to see the addition of a flat screen TV/DVD with freeview fixed to the wall since our stay last year. The breakfasts are the best you will find in any B&B with excellent service all round. The unlimited tea, coffee and toast is much appreciated! Lots of variety of fruits, cereals and the uncut bread appeared to be fresh from the oven - still very warm and extremely fresh - to die for!! Cooked breakfast - perfect - my partner was given an extra sauasage - thumbs up!! Very friendly hosts who were kind enough to share details of local restaurants and through their advice we found a fantastic pub restaurant in Wherwell - off the beaten track which do very large portions of beautiful food at very good value! Have stayed here twice now and would definitely recommend it to any friends. Will be back!

At last I have found a B & B on the island which ticks all my boxes - modern, clean, nicely decorated room and bathroom, king sized bed, sea view, balcony, quiet at night, friendly but unobtrusive owners, great location near the beach and town for shopping/evening restaurants, swimming pool, great breakfast with Greek yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, croissants as well as the full English. It has taken us about 30 years to find the perfect B&B and I'm reluctant to praise it too much otherwise it will be full next year when we want to return ! (My husband is a born and bred Isle of Wight-ian which means we visit 2 or 3 times a year).

So well done Ann and Dave, in 3 years you have created a very good B & B/hotel, we had a relaxed break in a nice atmosphere, all the guests seemed chilled out and friendly so thats a good result.

Evening meals out - we went to Pendletons, Morgans and Saffrons, all recommended though Pendletons came out first choice (especially their summer pudding). We would try Legends another time, and from previous visits to Shanklin the Indian (Spice Lounge ?) was good too.
