My husband and I wanted to go for a small holiday to celebrate our one year anniversary and after we had decided to go to IOW we had a look on here to find a place to stay. The other reviews says it all, this place is no 1 for one particular reason, the great hosts Kat and Dave. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left they were nothing but helpful and easy to talk to and the breakfast was great as well. Please note that this is an adult only b&b which I found really good seeing that it means you don't get a lot of noise in the evenings from kids and youngsters and considering the number of school kids that were around everywhere on the island (or so it seemed) at the time it made me appreciate the peace and quiet of this place even more. Don't get me wrong I don't mind kids and of course even adults can make noise when they get home from a night out, but I never noticed any kind of noise. The guestbook there spoke its own story about how much everyone before us had enjoyed their stay there, so even though not everyone write their reviews on here I can tell you that people only had nice words to say about the place.

The standard of the rooms and the place itself was very high and if we ever go back to IOW I know where I will be booking a room again.

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of April and can only echo all of the other reviews - everything was first class - Kath & Dave are great hosts, the rooms are spotlessly clean and very well appointed, breakfast is excellent. Can't fault Westbury Lodge at all!!

We only stayed one night, but everything was spot on, from the email communication onwards. We were welcomed with a cup of tea, and recommended a reataurant for dinner, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Breakfast was first class, and cooked to order. We did not sleep well ,but that was not the fault of Kath and Dave, as the spotlessly clean room was large and comfortable. However, we are both light sleepers and the bed was much too soft and bouncy for our taste, and the duvet too heavy and warm.
Nevertheless we would not hesitate to stay again.

Kath and Dave were great hosts and made us feel most welcome.
We stayed in room 1 downstairs which was most comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious and Dave's scrambled eggs were superb.
The hotel is in a very convenient position, just a short stroll to the cliff top and you if you enjoy walking like we do, you can leave your car and there are many enjoyable walks from Shanklin. The old village is a 10 min stroll away where there are some bars and restaurants. We would most certainly hope to stay at Wesbury Lodge again.

We went for a quiet weekend to 'get away from it all' and that's exactly what we got. From the point of booking we were treated to a 1st class service from Kath & Dave. Everything was spot on, even down to the dressing gowns provided for free! Best cooked breakfast ever and scrambled eggs to die for!! Kath & Dave do all they can to make your stay - long or short - the best it can be and succeed with honours. We will definitely return for another weekend break as soon as possible.

We stayed at The Westbury Lodge for 2 nights and had based our decision on previous reviews. We weren't disappointed and had a thoroughly relaxing stay.
The communications with Kath prior to arrival were clear and informative and on arrival she made us a cup of tea whilst we had a chat in the lounge area. We also met Dave and although they have only been on the island a year or so, they made us feel very welcome, giving us a map of the local area so we could get our bearings.
We stayed in a superior room, and the size of the room and bathroom were fantastic. Lovely and warm (on a very cold January weekend) with all the nice finishing touches to hand (tea, coffee, biscuits, mineral water, toiletries etc) The flatscreen tv had all the freeview channels and I think had a built in DVD player. Our bathroom had shower over a bath which is always nice and hot water was always plentiful.
The breakfast was excellent. Unlike some other B&Bs we have stayed in, they take your order in the morning and cook to order. Although this was fine for this weekend (as there was only 1 other couple staying), it might prove tricky to facilitate when the rooms are all taken, as it did take a little while to arrive. However, it was a lovely cooked breakfast and my veggie status was remembered and well catered for. Kath was quick to replenish items at breakfast and brought us more tea each day, which was really nice. The quality of the breakfast was great and to be recommended.
Kath & Dave gave us good recommendations for dinner each evening (beware the IoW does pretty much shut for Winter!) and we ate in the Village Inn (huge portions of home cooked food at a higher cost) and in The Crab (smaller portions at a more reasonable cost) - both located in the Old Village which is a short walk from Westbury Lodge.
We took Kath & Dave's recommendation of a walk along the esplanade to Sandown (about 1.5 miles each way) and thoroughly enjoyed this flat walk - plenty of character and interesting observations to make along the way.
You can park at the B&B on the drive and as it was low season, we had no problems at all.
I would definitely recommend this B&B to others, good location, good hosts, and a great stay in Shanklin.

The accommodation was spacious, pleasant, tastefully decorated and spotless. The room had plenty of useful facilities usually associated with top hotels - various hot drinks and biscuits, bottled water, toiletries, towels and towelling robes. The bed was comfy and the breakfast excellent. Kath and Dave were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended
