We have recently returned from our 4 night stay at the Westbury Lodge. It was truely beyond our expectations - a home from home retreat!!
From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Pam & Sheila kindly offering us refreshments, whilst spending time running through what Shanklin and the Island had to offer its visitors ie recommendations on places to eat out - places to visit. And if you didn't take it all in, their mini travel bureau will help you to decide on your next move.
Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious and equipped with everything (plus more) that you would need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts were very tasty and they didnt cut corners - the choice was excellent. The individual tables were carefully spaced apart so you didnt feel you were on top of the next guest ,rubbing elbows!
The hotel is located in a quiet residential road in Shanklin ,which was nice to escape from the hustle and bustle of day trippers in coaches visiting the gorgeous old shanklin village. We were about 10-15mins walk from here.
A little tip if you decide to leave the car at home and use the Isles excellent bus service - if you fancy taking a scenic coastal route to the Needles - take the X40 coach outside Somerfields (runs daily in high season) It's a great way just to sit back and take in the views! We bought a two day rover ticket for £20 which entitles you to hop on/off anytime, on any routes on the Island at your own leisure.
I am quite particular when it comes to staying in hotels (friends/family can vouch for me here) but I can say the Westbury Lodge have got it right!! Thanks again for such a wonderful stay, and we look forward to returning soon!

After a warm and informative welcome from Pam and Sheila along with tea and coffee in the lovely conservatory we were shown to our room which was large with well designed en suite shower and toilet all spotlessly clean with panoramic views of the downs.Breakfast time was happy and relaxed coupled with an excellent choice of food all suberbly cooked and presented and an occasional lighthearted morning quiz made for a great atmosphere. We would like to thank Pam and Sheila for being such great caring and fun loving hosts in the best bed and breakfast on the island be warned we will be back and would not hesitate to recommend to The Westbury Lodge Hotel to anyone we know. Many Thanks for a great holiday Bill And Anne

My husband and I are very careful about choosing Guest House and Bed and Breakfast accommodation. We have been doing so for the past 6 years and generally speaking we are very successful. We consider we are good at 'reading between the lines' of any advertisement and communications.
I was very impressed by the very helpful, friendly confident prompt businesslike manner received from the proprietors (Pam and Sheila)
In addition 'Adults only' was an added attraction as it indicated to us that the aim was to create a peaceful quite holiday atmosphere. Pam and Sheila assured us confidently that we would have a lovely holiday and we would not be disappointed.
We had a very restful holiday indeed! Pam and Sheila are excellant hostesses and great personalities.
We look forward to trying their other rooms as their twin bedded room downstairs though clean and comfortable with a nice smart showerroom was a bit cramped and we were disappointed with the poor view.

We were very impressed with the welcome we received from Pam and Sheila. They welcomed us with a cup of tea and went out of their way to let us know about the local eateries and events.
Our room was splendid; comfortable bed, good sized shower cubicle (not a curtain!) and everything clean. The breakfast was always well cooked and presented.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Like others, we chose Westbury Lodge because of it's rating on Tripadvisor.
The reviews are spot on. The place is spotlessly clean, the room was excellent, the breakfast was lovely and Pam and Sheila couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
As we walked around Shanklin, we noticed that a lot of hotels have swimming pools. Had I known that before I booked, I may have gone for one of those.
However, we would have missed out on a lovely stay at Westbury Lodge.
Thank you Pam and Sheila!

We booked a four day short break using the information on TripAdvisor and [ --XXX.XXXXXXXXXXXXX.XX.XX-- ] – having read the reviews our expectations were high and we are glad to say all those expectations were well and truly surpassed.

Westbury Lodge is ideally located in a quiet area of Shanklin Town, off the main roads and away from the larger hotels that cater for coach parties (mainly large groups of children when we were there). It’s only a stroll to the cliff top walk and a few more minutes from the beach front esplanade. The pubs and restaurants of Shanklin Old Village are also well within walking distance, so it’s ideal to leave the car at Westbury Lodge and just meander about.

The “Plough and Barleycorn” (which became our local) is about 200 yards away. We had some lovely dinners out, returning via the local and a pint or two of “Doom Bar”!

We were welcomed by Sheila moments after we parked on the drive; she gave us a refreshing glass of real lemonade (most welcome after our journey) then she gave us a short but very useful introduction to Westbury Lodge, a local map and some details on places to eat. Now, you don’t get that level of professionalism at many B&B’s. We were shown to our room which was spacious, scrupulously clean and nicely decorated. All the expected amenities were there, plenty of drawers and a wardrobe with plenty of wooden hangers. Free wireless broadband was a bonus, not for work I might add, as I’m retired – I just like to have email chats with our children using my little PDA.

The whole ambience of Westbury Lodge is friendly, trusting and welcoming.

A resident’s lounge is available with a widescreen TV, videos, books and games. We did not use the lounge, but we did enjoy relaxing in the conservatory with a glass of wine or two. We also used the patio; soft covers for the seats are available and sun umbrellas too.

Sheila and Pam have breakfasts running so smoothly that there was really never a wait for anything. Cereals, fruit juices, fruits, toast, yoghurts, beverages and the lovely full cooked breakfasts set us up for each day ahead. Occasionally, Pam ran a short quiz about the Isle of Wight after breakfast – no pressure to take part, and nothing too taxing, just 10 multiple choice questions. We enjoyed that nice touch – good fun that was first for us.

Many people seem to be return visitors to the Westbury Lodge. Would we return? Yes, if we chose to go to the island again, however we are the sort of people who like visiting different places (see our TripAdvisor profile). We will not hesitate to recommend Westbury Lodge to our friends and family.

In summary, Sheila and Pam are excellent hosts; they run a first class B&B in a very professional manner. We came away refreshed having enjoyed our stay with them and our visit to the Isle of Wight. So, if you are looking for a B&B in Shanklin book the Westbury Lodge with total confidence, we are sure you will not be disappointed.

Was taken here by my hubby for our Silver wedding Anniversary. He plotted with Sheila and Pam (the owners) to make it special from organising flowers and champagne in our room to booking a lovely meal at Saffrons, where they made a fuss of us. We would definately return hospitality rooms and food all excellent, thanks ladies.
