We went for a quiet weekend to 'get away from it all' and that's exactly what we got. From the point of booking we were treated to a 1st class service from Kath & Dave. Everything was spot on, even down to the dressing gowns provided for free! Best cooked breakfast ever and scrambled eggs to die for!! Kath & Dave do all they can to make your stay - long or short - the best it can be and succeed with honours. We will definitely return for another weekend break as soon as possible.

We stayed at The Westbury Lodge for 2 nights and had based our decision on previous reviews. We weren't disappointed and had a thoroughly relaxing stay.
The communications with Kath prior to arrival were clear and informative and on arrival she made us a cup of tea whilst we had a chat in the lounge area. We also met Dave and although they have only been on the island a year or so, they made us feel very welcome, giving us a map of the local area so we could get our bearings.
We stayed in a superior room, and the size of the room and bathroom were fantastic. Lovely and warm (on a very cold January weekend) with all the nice finishing touches to hand (tea, coffee, biscuits, mineral water, toiletries etc) The flatscreen tv had all the freeview channels and I think had a built in DVD player. Our bathroom had shower over a bath which is always nice and hot water was always plentiful.
The breakfast was excellent. Unlike some other B&Bs we have stayed in, they take your order in the morning and cook to order. Although this was fine for this weekend (as there was only 1 other couple staying), it might prove tricky to facilitate when the rooms are all taken, as it did take a little while to arrive. However, it was a lovely cooked breakfast and my veggie status was remembered and well catered for. Kath was quick to replenish items at breakfast and brought us more tea each day, which was really nice. The quality of the breakfast was great and to be recommended.
Kath & Dave gave us good recommendations for dinner each evening (beware the IoW does pretty much shut for Winter!) and we ate in the Village Inn (huge portions of home cooked food at a higher cost) and in The Crab (smaller portions at a more reasonable cost) - both located in the Old Village which is a short walk from Westbury Lodge.
We took Kath & Dave's recommendation of a walk along the esplanade to Sandown (about 1.5 miles each way) and thoroughly enjoyed this flat walk - plenty of character and interesting observations to make along the way.
You can park at the B&B on the drive and as it was low season, we had no problems at all.
I would definitely recommend this B&B to others, good location, good hosts, and a great stay in Shanklin.

The accommodation was spacious, pleasant, tastefully decorated and spotless. The room had plenty of useful facilities usually associated with top hotels - various hot drinks and biscuits, bottled water, toiletries, towels and towelling robes. The bed was comfy and the breakfast excellent. Kath and Dave were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended

Both my husband and I stayed for 3 nights last week and we will be recommending Westbury Lodge to all our friends.
From the moment we booked with Kath & Dave we have had excellent service , arriving we were warmly greeted by Kath and were welcomed with tea and biscuits , we were made to feel very welcome and at home and our room was very well presented at the front of the house , with plentiful supplies of toiletries and tea , coffee , bottles of water and biscuits . The room was cosy and warm and we had a flat screen tv also .
Breakfast was plentiful , cooked to order and we also liked the fact that both Kath and Dave take a real interest in their guests , asking us our plans for the day and giving us very useful advice especially regarding parking in tourist areas and roadworks to avoid on the island. Both Kath and Dave are excellent hosts who go that extra mile with their hospitality and I hope they will continue to hold the number 1 slot for B&B's in Shanklin , it is well deserved.
We will certainly use Westbury Lodge again when we next go to the Island.

I booked westbury lodge after the great reviews and I have to say that I was not disappointed! It a great place and Dave and Kath helping with anything I needed.

I asked Kath to book the ferry for me and then even changed the return time for me when we wanted to stay slightly longer. I also asked about some flowers for my partner as it was her 30th and that was not too much trouble.

Westbury Lodge was very close to the famous shanklyn village and walking distance to the beach.

Cant fault it possible the best place we have been to yet!

Dave and Kath proved to be the best of hosts - the bedroom was clean, warm and cosy with a great little flatscreen tv incorporating freeview channels. A full size TV is available in the large lounge with a DVD / Video player and the conservatory proved ideal when it rained to sit and read in peace. Breakfast was a good selection of fruit and cereal followed by whatever you want in the way of the 'English cooked breakfast' i.e. Dave does a mean Bacon butty!!
The Lodge is in a great location - 2 minutes walk to the high street with good bakers and other stores or 2 minutes in the other direction to the cliff top walk down to the beach.
Recommended for a short break or indeed for a week or two, I for one will certainly return next year for at least a week and maybe two - so watch out Dave - get the bacon in now!!
