This hotel is situated at the top of the cliff with easy access to the beach and seafront. It's either a short 5 minute walk there or the lift which is directly outside. It's only a 10-15 minute walk to the train station and bus station so overall it's position couldn't be better. The hotel itself is brilliant. The rooms are spotlessly clean and so is the rest of the hotel. There's a snooker room, table tennis, bowls, swimming pool and sauna which is plenty to occupy you. The food is delicious and the service is fanominal. The staff are all very friendly. The lounge and bar is very comfortable and is equipped with some games like cards and dominoes. The ballroom has entertainment every night aswell as bingo. This hotel is value for money and should be a 5 star in my opinion.

The hotel room was very spacious and the housekeeping was excellent. As a Vegetarian and also unable to eat certain foods the waiting and kitchen staff went out of their way to provide me with what I asked for. My Husband was well satisfied with his meals. The general staff were very pleasant at all times and very helpful. Liked the fact that the Manager greeted us on arrival and on leaving. The Hotel is immediately opposite the Cliff Lift so there is a means down to the shore and up again. All in all a very enjoyable holiday. The hotel caters mainly for coach parties and is also on a number of levels hence stairs but there is a small lift available.

Hotel lovely, warm & clean, the sea view room we had was excellent although the hotel is a little dated we expected that due to this kind of resort, neither dissapointed us though.
Breakfast - most hotels provide fruit juice as well as conflakes etc not juice "or" the latter, breakfast was good however could have provided a little more of it?
The evening main meals menu " could do better" and deffinately need looking into as these were not really what we expected from a hotel, for example (chicken & bacon suet pudding, great at home in the winter months)
Also the portion sizes, like the breakfast left a lot to be desired?
This would not put us off booking this trip with Robinsons coach tours again!!! as every thing was well organised from start to finish.
The last driver on our trip home "sadly I didnt take his name" who picked us up from Lymm @ approx 3pm on the 17/8/2011, couldn't be more helpfull (a credit to Robinsons)
Entertainment wise we watched Pauline Powell & Simon Howard while on the island who should apply for the next X Factor show as both were really good singers/entertainers
On a visit to Osbourne House, would reccommend the food @ the Prince of Wales opposite the main entrance gates.
Overall it would deffinately not put us off staying here again and we came away wishing we had booked the 8 day tour instead of 5 as Shanklin is a lovely little quaint seaside resort with plenty to offer.

The rooms, lounges and the hotel in total was very nice, The family room that we was in fantastic we all found it very specious, but the staff i was appoled by, they never smiled or communicated with you ones. For eg. We had to come down in our pyjamas ones and we was looked at very ignerantly and like we was some dirt. On the last day of the holiday we found out that they was a childrens menu which i didnt understand why they didnt tell us at the start, all the 5 days my child had all adult menu which she did not enjoy.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel, got offered free dinner on the 1st night when we booked, which was nice. Waitresses and manager at the hotel restaurant were friendly, they were busy cos the dining area was occupied by a few Robinson tour travellers. Room is fairly old but spacious. Didn't have hair dryer so had to request it from the reception on the 2nd night. They didn't have spare so they got me one after an hour and delivered it to my room. Didn't use the swimming pool and had a look to check out its conditions - looks ok but no one was there most of the time. You had to walk through a long corridor into the basement before taking you to the changing room and swimming pool, a bit scary. The hotel is at good location on the cliff above Shanklin beach, we had a nice stroll along the seafront on the 2nd night and found nicer B&Bs with seaview along the coast. There is a co-op supermarket in Shanklin town within 15 mins walking distance so good to stock up snacks/water.

This hotel had been recommended to us by a friend, so we were looking forward to visiting. We had specified (and paid extra) for a room with a sea view and balcony. Upon arrival we finally made our way to our room via various stairs and walkways to find our room a real disappointment (so much so that we could have cried!) The room was extremely dated and the interior was dull, old fashioned and generally miserable. Our Bathroom was horrendous, the suite was unbelievably old fashioned and very uninviting, the handle was falling off the door, the toilet roll holder was broken and the shower was an attachment of the bath taps - certainly not what anyone would expect in this day and age!! Our 'sea view' consisted of over looking the bar area and was more than 50% obscured by the back of the main building and everyone else's balconies. It turns out we were not in one of the rooms at the front of the building overlooking the sea, but in what appeared to be an extension of the building attached on the side. We are very much in agreement that the hotel appears to be catering for coach parties as we are presuming they got all the nice rooms and we were something of an after thought!! We cannot comment on the hotel food, we only stayed for one night as we decided to make our excuses and leave so we could book into a different hotel. We shall certainly not be recommending this hotel to any of our friends! :-(

Room Tip: Don't book in at this hotel!!

The hotel was clean and tidy but dated. The staff were great but under a lot of pressure. One lunch time there was no draught beer in the bar, only open 12-2, as the pipes were being cleaned. The owners would not pay for the staff to clean them when the bar was closed. It is a hotel geared up solely for coach parties that go out every day. Th e food is awful, Sunday dinner discribed as 'classic roast beef', was plastic beef that had been microwaved and the yorkshire pudding was rock hard. I was really dissappointed and as individual travelers would never return or advise anyone to stay there. Soory

Room Tip: Clean but dated.
