owners very friendly a bit worried about what we were going to expect from the room but it was clean and the bed linen was spotless and the view was lovely.overall the hotel is in need of some tender loving care.outside there was no garden to speak of just a yard.its a shame as the location is good and with a little attention to detail this could be a great hotel.

We booked this hotel as it allowed dogs (although we were only informed at check in that the dog - a tiny Pomeranian puppy - would be an extra £20!). I agree with all reviews below that the electrics looked dodgy at best. The noise level from other rooms made it quite hard to get a decent sleep. Breakfast was OK - just.

The only real positives from this place was the amazing cliff top views over the Shanklin seafront (although there are plenty of other hotels nearby with the same view) and the young lad in reception. He was always friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you decide to stay here, make sure you get a seaview room. What's the point otherwise? That...

I rate this as 0 purely as I can't rate it lower. I think a visit from the H&S would close this hotel down. There were outside sockets with no cover, screws sticking out from handles, lamps falling off of walls and windows that wouldn't close properly by the side of beds. Handles were missing from drawers. The toilets in the rooms were situated so that there was no leg room and you had to sit sideways causing the seat to come off. The walls were wafer thin and you could hear every word and sound from other rooms. The floorboards creaked so much I thought they might collapse. Breakfast was pot luck, you have what you are given, no choice but not the same for everyone. The drunks outside at midnight and the noise of people all night meant this was a nightmare. I was jealous of the vagrant cosily sleeping on a park bench.

Room Tip: A good tip to choose a good room would be - go somewhere else.

This is with out a doubt the worst hotel i've ever stayed in.
The main problem is the noise. The first room we where given had a group of 3 lads in the next room whos conversation got louder and louder, the Tv didnt worse and flashed and was only viewable in Black and white. We where moved to another room in the basement and told they kept linen in the corner of it. their was pet hair in the bed and blood on the valance sheet the bed was so old and uncomfortable...The toilet smelt like a public urinal and the noise was even worse we had a coach trip staying their and had to listen to loud very bad Karaoke style music till about 12pm followed by 3 lads sat on steps right outside our window drinking beer till the early hours. then if that wasnt bad
enough the creaking floor boards where terrible as our room was under neath the main hotel entrance we heard people walking up and down all night.
The staff where very rude in the dining room. We werent even asked what we would like? Just plonked a tepid cooked breakfast in front of us. the coffee was like dish water and no tea was available.
NEVER stay here its Awful. you have been warned!!! I really want to put something nice about this hotel and i've thought of something it was nice when we left.

Room Tip: ask for a room not in the basement

This hotel was very run down. In the room, the pipes were showing, light switches didn't work, there was one plug socket in the room which when you plugged anything in the TV went off, although not connected to the same socket! The noise was terrible with creaking floor boards above, and you could hear other guests having conversations next door and above as well as other things you really don't want to hear! We received 2 small towels and 2 medium towels for a 2 night stay and there was no where to hang them so they never dried.

The staff were rude, the reception was never manned and there was no concern for guests satisfaction at all.

The breakfast was terrible, the hot food was clearly cooked prior to it being ordered as the fried egg had gone hard on the top as you could tell it had been left standing.

Avoid this hotel!

Room Tip: There are none!

Tiny room that smelt.
No towels rails in bathroom or hooks to hang anything. Was clean though.
Neither bedside light worked.
Fire detector in ceiling of our room was covered by a plastic sandwich bag, presumably placed by a previous guest, but not spotted by the hotel (at least I hope that's the case).
Hot water takes 5 mins (literally) to get hot. I had enough for one short shower but then hot water ran out during my wife's shower.
Bathroom basin takes 10 minutes to drain the water. As hot water takes 5 mins to come through you can not have hot water in the basin as you can't run tap long enough for water to turn hot before the basin would overflow. Told the owners who said 'I know, its a problem with the drains under the ground.'
The worst breakfast I have ever been served. Barely warm let alone hot, truly terrible, slopped on the plate with no apparent care. Left all but a couple of bites. You have to make your own toast using a couple of toasters in the dining room. Breakfast started at 8.30am at weekends and so there was a queue of people waiting to go in. You then had to wait your turn to use the toaster which took 5 mins to toast a piece of bread. Doing toast for 4 people took 20 minutes. Had to queue for a just slightly more than a thimble of orange juice.
The location is great, could be a fabulaous place if it was completely modernised and run like a hotel rather than a hostel. Reception only has people there between 9am and 6pm and consists of a little hatch into which you can peer. This hotel cost us about £80 for a double, i would have been unhappy if it had been £20 and of course it was paid up front....

Room Tip: Ask if the drainage works in the room.
