We made one big mistake that we didnt check the reviews and the pictures before our booking. So where to begin?

First think was the exterior of this hotel, we arrived to North Korea or what?

The second was the very similar smell to mobile toilets (on music festivals) right at the hotel's entrance all the way to reception.

The room:
after entering the room, literally bad smell punch you in the face,
after then our eyes upon on the dirty carpet,
old B grade furniture glamourise the room,
two old ugly pillows on the bed (probably never washed since 1950),
we found one spider above the bed,
another (dead) spider sticked under the window,
the white pain is peeling off from the rusted windows,
handles are useless,
curtains where wet from the water which was leaking from outside (was rainy day),
when we saw the bathroom we knew that we not gona use it...

The best what we could do,
was to decide to not to sleep here
and after we found another accommodation which met our needs,
we took our luggage,
gave back the room keys
and forget that this ever happend to us...

we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights... room was very small with view to the yard and kitchen, but it was clean. rooms and the whole hotel definitely needs to be redecorated and refurnished. walls are tiny so you can here everything on the corridor. location of this hotel is near the beach and quite close to the center of town. i was very dissapointed by breakfast.. there should be full english breakfast but there were no enought food for everyone!! there were only toast, slices of cheese, little bit of tomato and cucumber.. english breakfast - beens and hashbrown.. no sausages, no eggs, no bacon.. people were asking for more food and they brought just 2 slices of bacon.. breakfast really bad.. i am not sure if this hotel worth the amount of money.. i am not recommend this hotel..

Worst hotel i have ever stayed. I paid extra for "sea views" and our window was block with other wall. When I went to complaint, they told me they didn't have more rooms. I asked to give back the extra money and they answered me "No way".

My room was disgusting. My shower was broken and all room dirty. Disgusting.

Really bad place and rude staff.

Room Tip: Horrible place.

Ok so we did book last minute and it was the first week of the Easter holiday in April (out of season?) BUT I did expect more from the hotel. The hotel advertised "Full English Breakfast included" there was toast, cereal, salad? and croissants available but the extent of a cooked breakfast was the offer of one piece of bacon!! No egg or the rest of the works!! oh and I must not forget the tinned fruit cocktail with a couple of bits of apple added.
The dining room was very cold.
No evening meals so had to go out to eat even if it rained.
I can understand no entertainment out of season but we only saw the bar open once when we went out for dinner and it was shut by the time we got back.
Shower stopped working halfway through our stay so we were moved to another room, this was ok but the TV did not work properly in that room.
The hotel was only relatively quiet because of so few visitors but when there were a group of youngsters staying you could hear them into the night.
The bar area was dusty and clearly had not been used for a long time.
On the plus side, the member of staff (in our 5 night stay I only ever saw one lady!) was very polite and helpful. The room(s) was clean and the sea view was good.
This hotel is very run down and the professional photos on here don't show a true representation in my opinion.
There are some signs of updating but this hotel needs lots of money, care and attention before the reviews will get any better.
It could be a gold mine!!

Room Tip: Rooms 9 and 11 have lovely sea views, if not for the sea views it would be pointless staying here.

We went to The Mayfair hotel with Just Go Holidays and have no complaints, ok so the place could do with a bit of TLC but it was spotlessly clean, the food was very good and the service and staff good and friendly. The location is excellent as is the view. We had entertainment two out of four nights which we didn't really expect.
People have complained about no hot water but we had no problems and the bathroom had a new electric power shower.
Only "downs" could have done with more electric sockets in the room (the one behind the TV did not work).
This hotel is not suitable for the disabled as there are lots of steps and no lifts.
But personally we have no complaints and would go again.

Room Tip: We had room 14, absolutely fine and had sea view

arrived expecting the worst but found the hotel to be good value for money. ok yes it cud do with a make over but found the room adequate clean and comftable. the staff were helpful n although I read people saying the food was poor I thought it was fine. it was in a nice position to with a sea view (room 15) downside would be for people that found steps a problem as there was no lift !! finaly it wasn't the ritz but for the cost of the trip it was well worth the money.

Room Tip: had a room overlooking the sea. room 15

we went on a coach trip to the isle of wight with "just go holidays" and the Mayfair hotel was where we was staying, well like everyone else I read the reviews of the hotel and though let me make my own mind up, well when we got there the driver went in and said that he would see if there was someone that could help with the cases( which didn't matter to us) but there were plenty OAP on the trip, the driver came back and said that there was no one to help with the cases, he said the owner wants everyone to come in the lounge to collect their room keys, the OAP's really struggled to get the cases up the 18 or so steps, and when we got into the lounge the owner gave out keys and the poor OAP's where put on floors where they had to take at least 3 flights of stairs as there was no lift. the dining room was down 2 flights of stairs there was no offer of help for the OAP's which we thought was disgusting. the evening meal on the first night was either chicken with vegetables or a choice of salads with Tuna Cheese or Ham and that was it the 2nd night evening meal was fried fish and again the salads,3rd night was beef or the salads. there was no smiling or eye contacts from the owners and there was this one waitress who was very stern and unapproachable, forgot to mention that the desserts was not much good cheese or biscuits which was 2 crackers I slice of cheese cut in half and 3 wrinkly grapes or ice-cream or what they called gateaux... the room well that was reasonable (Room 20 )but the first night the dog barked all night no sea view the pipe system was out of the ark it rattled and banged the bath water would not drain away, the toilet needed a good cleaning the best part about it was its a stones throw from the beach
