Our vegetable supplier "5 a day" is based in Ventnor High Street who works with an array of local farmers.. All produce is local and seasonal wherever possible, some grown in Ventnor itself. The majority of our fish is caught and supplied by Ventnor Haven Fishery, mostly caught the morning it arrives on your plate. Our mussels are rope grown in the River Exe, Devon. All our dry goods are supplied by the Island company Medina Foods. Gourmet Mushrooms are grown on the Island, as well as the tastiest tomatoes courtesy of The Tomato Stall. Our wines are supplied by Majestic Wines based in Wootton, giving us a diverse range of quality wines for your enjoyment. Locally baked bread comes from Sarah's House on Ventnor High Street. Thank you for making our chef's job that little bit easier!

My wife and two young children popped over to Isle of Wight as some of my family were visiting the island for the first time. As I have been there a few times now I suggested Phileas Fogg, Ventnor as we keep on having excellent meals and service there. It happened to be a Sunday and so we were treated to their advertised Seafood Sunday menu. Wow! Upon entering the restaurant we were welcomed by a warm smile from one of the waitresses who seated us at the table. Orders were made in a timely fashion and soon we were eating delicious seafood caught that day! The seafood platter to share is mouth watering and excellent value. What I like about the restaurant is it's personal touch. Mark, the owner popped over to the table and had a lovely chat with us and even recognised us from a previous visit. Phileas Fogg is fast becoming a home from home and we will certainly return once more to our favourite little restaurant in Ventnor.

We had an fantastic meal, all three courses could not be faulted. The food and wine were reasonably priced which combined with very good and friendly service by all the staff made it a special evening.
Really liked the lamb tagine and banoffee pie.
Remember to reserve a table to avoid disappointment!!

We ate at the Phileas Fogg restaurant in Ventnor, Isle of Wight on our recent holiday, in fact we ate there twice during our 6 day stay so that shows just how impressed we were with our first visit.

1st Visit: We managed to grab a table at 6.30 on the Friday night (well worth calling if you haven't pre-booked) there were 4 adults and a toddler, we each had something different from the menu ranging from ribs & chips to pork belly & herby mash to lamp with potato cakes. The starters and main were divine perfectly cooked and well presented. Our waitress went out of her way to accommodate our toddler by bringing his meal out first and ensuring he had crayons etc.

2nd Visit - We went again on the Sunday, titled Seafood Sunday by the locals (again a last minute booking made for 5.15) My husband is a big fan of seafood and so enjoyed the mussels to start followed by half a lobster. Being that I don't eat any kind of seafood the menu as you can expect was a little limited, I had the garlic&pesto pitta bread to start followed by the jerk chicken was lovely!!! (o and quite spicy)

Best Points
Lovely to find a restaurant that doesn't have sausage/burger/chicken nuggets on the children's menu!!!
Fantastic Customer Service
Well priced Menu
Great Menu Variety

Bad Points
We were too full from our starters and mains to enjoy a dessert lol

Enjoy :-)

A great meal using local produce at a very reasonable price. We really enjoyed the fresh lobster which was perfectly cooked. The pudding course was also exceptional. Service was friendly and this restaurant's concern that their guests enjoyed themselves was reinforced by the chef/owner also going round the tables to check everyone had enjoyed their meal. Potential guests were being turned away the night we ate here so do book.

We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night. Although the food was very good there were two very noisy parties of six and eight at nearby tables which did somewhat spoil the evening as it was virtually impossible to carry on a decent conversation due to the excessive noise in a fairly small one room restaurant. That level of noise might be expected in a busy pub, but not in a restaurant. If you value peace and quiet it might be better to avoid weekends or check that there are no large parties booked in. Pity, as no complaints about the food or service.
