“Clean and functional”
Reviewed 15 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We rented apt 6 at short notice for a family break in the IOW. The apartment was clean and fine for our needs as a party of two adults and three children aged between 5 and 14.
We knew in advance that the apartment had no views to speak of but the outlook from the kitchen window on to a carport wasn't ideal. The bathroom was clean but the shower wasn't great. It was very hard to keep the water at the right temperature.
There was a bit of a musty smell in the apartment which the owners had tried to disguise by using plug in air fragarances. We unplugged this as we preferred the slightly musty smell! The owner was helpful and called in to check we were ok. I would probably stay here again but would choose a different apartment. I think others have been modernised to a better standard.

Stayed at Woodcliffe apartment one for a week with two toddlers and a best mate. Perfect location, amazing views and great hospitality. Ventnor is a quaint little beach side town with many hidden crook and crannies to explore. Near by towns also very quaint and a must see like Shanklin, Sandown and Niton. Accomodation was perfect for the family plus one without feeling boxed in. Older apartment but immaculately clean and well maintained. Evenings in felt like a holiday on its own ! Other reviews mentioned the carpark - absolutely no worries with children playing on massive grassed area which has magnificent views of the sea. Absolutely no downsides to this accomodation and the area. A beautiful place to visit I would guess anytime of year. Made so much more by the exceptional value for money accomodation offered at Woodcliffe !

“A Wight Christmas”
Reviewed 2 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We were looking for somewhere that was suitable for 3 adults (one elderly) and which would also accommodate two dogs. Communication prior to booking was excellent as I had quite a few questions and couldn't initially confirm exact dates due to waiting on a decision on time off from work. Bryce quoted me for a week and also for a short break. Once we had confirmed our booking we paid the deposit via Bank transfer, with the balance being due two weeks before the start of our holiday.

Due to me having to work on the Friday before Xmas we had to book an evening crossing and ferry. We were told the property would be unlocked, could arrive whenever and it would be ready when we arrived. We had no issues finding the property but be aware that the drive is fairly steep with a tight bend. But my husband managed to negotiate it, even towing a trailer in the dark!

The apartment we stayed in was on the ground floor (part of a block of four) and had two bedrooms, one with a double and one with twin beds. The kitchen was separate from the lounge / diner which was perfect for us as we could leave our dogs in this area overnight (naturally they aren't allowed in bedrooms). Floors were wooden/laminate which made sweeping up and hoovering up dog hair so much easier (a hoover was supplied). The bedrooms were carpeted with plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes.

Some nice touches included a bottle of prosecco left chilling in the fridge (thank you), hand wash, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, air freshener in the bathroom, jigsaw puzzles (although we didn't do any) and DVDs. There were also lots of tourist information leaflets and info on attractions in a drawer as well as an Information Folder. We found the apartment very spacious, very clean and decorated to a very good standard. It was also well equipped with a variety of crockery, dishes, wine glasses etc. We were able to park our car outside the door leading into the property via the kitchen and French doors opened from the lounge into the gardens from which you could also see the sea. It was very relaxing to witness a sunrise over the water in the morning and we were fortunate in that we had good weather. The apartment was warm and electric and heating was included in the rental price.

Ventnor isn't far but I'd recommend driving as there isn't a footpath (not that we could see) directly from the bottom of the drive. Considering the time of year, quite a few places seemed to be open - Ventnor itself was heaving on Boxing Day as we drove through but I think there had been a Boxing Day swim. We visited Sandown, Cowes and Bonchurch. We were also lucky enough to arrive at Compton Bay to witness a lovely sunset towards the end of our week.

One thing we would suggest, which isn't a criticism, is that of a couple of good, sharp knives. My husband has worked in hospitality and as a chef and he really struggled cutting veg and prepping meat with the knives supplied. We ended up buying a couple of sharp knives from Morrison's at Lake. It would also benefit from a mop/squeegee for the kitchen. I managed as best as I could to wipe over the floor using the bucket (with some disinfectant and a J Cloth) to keep it clean from boots and dog paws.

I'd certainly recommend and stay here again, and for anyone wondering how long it takes from the ferry terminal - it took us about 40 mins from East Cowes.

Oh, and we weren't charged any extra for our dogs! That's a big bonus in my book. Thanks for a lovely relaxing Xmas break.

“True home from home”
Reviewed 1 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We booked this apartment for a short break at Christmas as a family of 4 with 2 near teenage kids.
It was a well furbished place, had everything we needed , was spotlessly clean and even got an upgrade to flat 1 with sea view, which was fantastic. Sitting in the living room I was treated to a lovely sunrise, sipping coffee and taking beautiful pictures. Only the trees where somewhat in the way, although they made the pictures even more unique.
The location is great too, being on the quieter side of the island.
We would come back any time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

“Wonderfully relaxing holiday!”

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Woodcliffe :) We stayed in the Garden Flat which is just beautiful! Its an apartment in the main house, totally self contained, but benefiting from the amazing high ceilings and original tiled floor in the hallway of the original house. The main bedroom is huge! With it's own en suite shower and sink (no toilet) The second bedroom is a good size too with 2 single beds,, then there's a family bathroom with shower and bath and a second separate toilet too! The living area is large and comfortable with everything in the kitchen you could want, dishwasher, microwave, good size fridge and freezer, cooker and hob and more crockery and utensils than I have at home! Theres also a double sofa bed in the lounge. Everything is beautifully clean and organised, Bryce and Suzanne are so welcoming and friendly and encourage you to let them know if anything is not 100% so they can fix it asap. The huge patio doors open straight into a massive garden which stretches out to over look a church spire and the sea, you can sit on your sofa and watch the sunlight on the sea, its so relaxing!! There are several other flats and while we were there there were several familes, so plenty of playmates for our 3 year old! There is plenty of garden furniture amd BBQ's so you can make the most of the weather. Theres a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers, which was useful. All in all a wonderfully relaxing holiday, in a beautiful apartment and location. Really highly recommended!!

Stayed in apt 4 for 1 week. Everything suppilied. Bryce and his wife are very friendly and helpful hosts, and are genuinely concerned that you have a nice stay. Plenty of tourist info in the apartment. Lovely location and views over the sea from the garden. Nice pubs nearby and great walking. Don't stay in a b&b - stay here!
