Ventnor Towers Hotel

I thought this was an average hotel, but my partner thought it was "ace!". To be honest I thought the Isle of Wight was very strange, but interesting. This hotel is located near to the seafront, but you have to walk along a rat infested, smelly, overgrown footpath to get to it (not hotels fault as off their land). The hotel itself is very big and grand, but really needs updating - but this would cost a fortune as its huge. swimming pool was understandably closed as the weather was interchangeable, but if were open we would have used it. Ventnor Towers is quirky and nostalgically stood in time - breakfast 5*, we would stay again.

After a stay during the long Jubilee weekend with my wife and 6 year old son at Ventnor Towers, we were so impressed with the hotel that we decided to come back at some point later in the year for another long weekend. It is such a great place to relax, it has very friendly staff, offers a superb breakfast and is a very clean and tidy place. If you are not after all the plush things in life, Ventnor Towers takes you back a few years, with old certificates and pictures of the area hanging on the walls in the two main lounges, those crunchy sounds when you walk downstairs, lots of sofas and so on. Just so wonderful! The hotel is situated 'literally' right on the IOW Coastal Path, which in my case meant I had to go out early in the mornings for a run along the coast, followed by the mentioned amazing breakfast (again overlooking the grounds + coast + sea!). Next time I am there, I will definitely make use of the outdoor heated swimming pool, that's situated on the beautiful grounds. Despite all of this, being greeted by name on arrival does make a very good start to the holiday. Very good value for money. Happy times. ;-)

We stayed at the Hotel for one night in June 2012. As many people have said it's quiet dated in places however it was clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly. It was nice to have a bar to sit in and chat to other guests and the breakfast was lovely . Our stay was marred by a poor room, we were in family room number 16, and as been commented on elsewhere this is definitely from the 70's, that's 1870's it's very a poor room with an equally poor en suite.

I would stay at the hotel again as long as it was not room 16.

Room Tip: Not room 16

We stayed one night and highly recommend it. It is a little way out of the town, maybe a 15min walk, but during daylight hours, it’s quicker if you walk the beach side into town, which is an enjoyable walk with fantastic views. The hotel itself was nice with free parking, but don’t expect brand new, more like a cosy ‘lived in home’! The staff were very nice, very friendly and very helpful. The hotel has an outdoor pool, which looked welcoming, table tennis, tennis court, a 9 hole golf course and a snooker table in the games room downstairs. Our room was in the basement and was very bright, airy and clean, and the bathroom was modern and spotless. We had a large telly, with the usual tea/coffee. We also had a nice surprise finding that we had French doors which opened out to the gardens with a wonderful view out to the sea. It was near the bar/restaurant area, so could be tricky if the garden was packed and people were out there late. Before we ventured out, we pulled up a table and chairs right outside our room and sat with a drink in hand looking out to the sea – oh the life! So peaceful and so tranquil. We didn’t eat in the restaurant as we had a meal booked in town, but the breakfast was very tasty with lots of choices from the menu, along with various cereals/fruit/juice/yoghurts you could help yourself to. And the view from the restaurant was stunning. It was also my birthday over that weekend, and we were even offered a bucks fizz with our breakfast. A perfect end to a lovely stay!

Have just returned from a visit to this hotel. As previously stated the hotel is a little dated and in need of some moderinsation. However on the plus side the room we had was warm, comfortable and clean (and the kids were delighted with the v comfortable bunk beds built into the cupboards). The staff were really lovely especially John the owner. The views are fantastic, the outdoor pool was heated to 27c and v clean, enjoyed a lovely swim there with the children. The cooked breakfast was v good, can't comment on evening meals as we ate out. It's a very family friendly hotel with lots of old fashioned english charm and its small shortcomings are reflected in the price.

Our visit was no doubt influenced by the very wet weather. We had not visited the Isle of Wight
for many years and for us it has become too touristic. We had read previous revues of this hotel
and noted the comments.Without doubt the staff/owners are very friendly and we found no
cleanliness issues. However we found the building and the grounds to be very tired and in need
of a good makeover.Parking was also not too easy .

Room Tip: we asked for a quiet room and we were given one with a wonderful sea view.

This is our 2nd stay @ Ventnor Towers. Again we only stayed 1 night but had another agreeable stay.

There has been some remodelling since last year, particularly seen in the garden which will be lovely coming into summer. Our room was very comfortable, with a good size TV & sea view. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast overlooking the sea/gardens. The.hotel is very warm, welcoming & the staff/owners very helpful. We were very grateful for the complimentary tickets for Steve Harley @ IOW Arts Festival in Ventnor, very generous of the hotel & really rounded off our stay on a high note.

I like the way the hotel is family run & caters for young families as well as couples etc. Recommend this hotel if you want a home from home. Loads of amenities in the summer/better weather too.
