“A happy week”
Reviewed 9 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I stayed at the house with my husband (in the first floor room) and my sister (she was on the top floor). It was a perfect one-week home for us, despite arriving to find that the boiler had broken down (we could still shower as there is an electric shower in the first floor wet room). The boiler was fixed by the Wednesday evening and its absence did not get in the way of our enjoyment of the house and of Ventnor.
The owners provided a useful and comprehensive information sheet prior to our stay, which was a nice touch - and there was a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge when we arrived. The first thing we did was sit on the lawn in bright sunshine and enjoy the wine. The house has a great location looking out to sea and the lawn catches the sun all day.
Jamie, the owners' representative, was an absolute star. He could not have made us more welcome or been more friendly. He contacted me to ask when we would be arriving at the house and met us off the bus in the centre of Ventnor to show us the way.
We have been to Ventnor before, but got to know it better this time. The Spyglass was great fun; the view from the Rex Bar was fantastic and our evening at The Exchange (where we saw a play) was enchanting (It is the first play I have seen with a dog in the audience!)
Like the previous reviewer, I did not find the house cluttered. It contains some interesting pictures, books and artefacts, but there was plenty of room in the main bedroom for our own clothes and belongings - and enough room in the top bedroom for my sister's things.
The kitchen was spacious and very well stocked - it lacked only a cafetière.
Towards the end of the week I noticed a small leak from the wet room into the kitchen and so we started to shower in the bath rather than the floor of the wet room. I am sure the owners will get this fixed as soon as possible.
We, like several of the reviewers, were sad to leave the house at the end of the week and I am sure we will return next year.

“A beautiful location and a home from home!”
Reviewed 1 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were not disappointed at all with this property. It is beautiful inside and out. We loved all the pictures and different things to look at - I disagree with others where they say it's cluttered and there is nowhere to put anything. That is untrue...they have the odd thing here and there, but it's by no means cluttered...more cultured and interesting...which gives the house a more lived in, cosy and personal feel. There is bags of space for your belongings in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Who wants to stay somewhere sole less - try a Travelodge if you want that! (and Travelodges come in handy to for different types of trips, so not knocking them either).

The property was clean and well maintained. It's situation so close to the amenities, restaurants and the sea are lovely. I loved going out on to the balcony at all times of day and night to be able to watch and listen to the beautiful ocean. The house is certainly large and spacious - everywhere - so only positives for this property and it's location.

We had one of our best holidays ever in Ventnor, some lovely restaurants, especially the Spyglass (three visits in one week!) and Foggs (amazing food). If you get chance, download the treasure trail of Ventnor off the internet (Treasuretrail.co.uk) - we had a great 2 hours wondering around solving a murder mystery with our 9 year old. Some of the road works were a pain, (well outside Ventnor) around the island, but once you got to know where they were you could avoid them most of the time. Highlights were the two walks from Ventnor West and East - both enjoyable days out without the car. We also went to Black Gang Chine (a strange mix of everything kids like), The Needles (car parking is £4.50 so make sure you make a day of it and use Tesco vouchers to ease the cost of the rides), The Garlic Farm (interesting) and Steam Railway (Sunday and Wednesday are best days to go as fee includes an excellent bird display).

My nine year old cried when we had to leave as he'd enjoyed it so much - bless! We are even debating whether to book again next year - so thanks 6 Marine Parade for providing such a fantastic place to stay on holiday! Jamie was also very helpful during a few issue of our week away - always a phone call away.

“Lovely house with an ideal setting waking up to the sound of the sea”

We stayed at Marine Parade in June 2014. A lovely house with lots of extras included & interesting artefacts to look at in the lounge.
We arrived early on Saturday but Jamie was happy to let us drop our luggage off & go & explore.
There was building work going on next door but this wasn't much of a disturbance as the work didn't tend to start before 8am and were finishing up for the day on our return. They were very friendly as were all the locals.
This was a very relaxing holiday, sitting on the swing seat in the front garden listening to the sea and falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was wonderful!
The only fault was the cleaning. We arrived before the cleaner & were shown round the property before it had been cleaned. We noticed that the bath hadn't been touched as there was dirt in it from when we were shown around and there were a lot of crumbs on the worktops in the kitchen so this also wasn't touched.

“Place could do with a deep clean, but otherwise ok”
Reviewed 4 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

As a senior contributor to this site; as with all my reviews I will give a balanced, accurate reflection of my stay.

Stayed here for a week in April/May 2013. Booking process was very easy and received very good instructions from the owner prior to arriving detailing everything that was needed and information concerning the property prior to arrival. The day before arriving the owners representative, Jamie, called me and told me he would meet me at the property at my arrival time. It so happens that I was an hour early and I called Jamie and it was no trouble to meet me an hour earlier. Was shown round the house and how all the equipment etc worked. A very efficient and impressive arrival process.

The house is a really lovely house, spread over three floors with amazing views over the sea; the ever changing view is something that you would never grow tired of. Place is well equipped with DVD recorder, Sky TV, CD player, microwave, dishwasher, Wi-Fi (very fast, speeds of 17-20Mb achieved) etc. Everything appeared to work without fault. There were plenty of ‘extras’ in the kitchen that you would not normally expect for a holiday home, in fact there was a full scale kitchen so equipped, pots, pans, utensils etc. Furthermore there were things like tea bags, tomato ketchup, vinegar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bin liners, sugar, mustard etc. Often in holiday rentals these are not provided and you end up buying your own, but they were in sufficient quantity and there was nothing to say don’t use them! The place is very quiet and there is private parking outside the front for one car. It’s awkward getting in and out of the road as it’s on a steep junction but there is plenty of turning space further down the road.

There were a few niggles and looking at the guest book in the house I’m not the only one who has experienced some issues with the property. Firstly the place is very cluttered, there’s hardly any room to put anything down, it’s more like a family home, in fact that’s the impression I got, that the couple that live here are away a lot and as such they let their home out when they are not there. Because of this it makes cleaning very difficult, the five hours that the solitary cleaner has on change over days is not sufficient to clean a property of this size. There were numerous cobwebs and layers of dust around the house. The kitchen was not clean to the standards that I have at home and as such on arrival I had to give it a good clean and also re wash all the cutlery and crockery as some of it was not completely clean. There are numerous gripes from other guests in the guest book complaining of the standard of cleanliness, especially excessive dog hair everywhere, although I didn’t notice any and I note that the property does not accept animals, so perhaps this is a thing of the past. The bathrooms are a strange arrangement; the bathroom on the middle floor is more of a wet room with a shower. It does have a bath but it’s more like a large bucket(!), I was not able to lie down in it, I had to sit and I am only 5 foot 7” tall. The bathroom on the top floor is even stranger in as much that the shower is directly above the toilet, I didn’t use this room so I can’t comment on how easy it was to have a shower in there. Whilst on the top floor there are no blinds in this top bedroom, that overlooks the sea, so in the summer the room will get light at sunrise.

Not a fault of the property but it will be handy for people to know, the mobile phone signal in the house is very poor, in fact mobile coverage all over the island is not that great, vast patches of dead spots. Vodafone is non existent in the house, Orange and T-Mobile just about scrape 1 bar of a 3G signal, but it’s not enough to make a call, you need to go outside for that. I didn’t have an O2 device so can’t comment.

Overall it was a pleasant stay but I would not want to stay again, mainly because of the clutter and cleanliness aspect.

“Beautiful Relaxing House, Views and Sunsets Amazing”
Reviewed 13 December 2012 for a stay in April 2012

This is a beautiful house, with the master bedroom overlooking the ocean with French doors leading out onto a balcony, also fabulous views from the living room and 2nd floor bedroom. To wake up in the morning with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach and sit and watch the sun setting in the evening was amazing, would love to return here soon. We stayed with our 2 children and we all had a fantastic time ..... literally a one minute walk from the beach. You will find wonderful books to peruse and a very well equipped kitchen, we were sad to leave.

I just spent a week here with my wife and 6 year old son.

We had an excellent time and found the house to be well equipped and well located.

The furnishings were perfect, the view was outstanding and we could easily walk to anywhere in ventnor within a few minutes.

Would definitely recommend to anyone else!
