As regular visitors to Ventnor we were delighted with the opportunity to stay at this lovely cottage full of character and intrigue. You could feel the cottage reflected the lives of the owners in the many pictures and artefacts that we were still discovering at the end of the week. A spacious living room overlooking the sea and a fine kitchen on the ground floor was followed by a large and light master bedroom on the first floor. this has a large balcony giving uninterupted views of the English Channel. A pleasant place to sit and enjoy a good book with a glass of wine. On the second floor is a delightful spacious study/bedroom with again uninterupted views of the sea.
A lovely place to get away from it all.
This is a great holiday home for a family of 5. It is very spacious and comfortable. The position, overlooking the beach is amazing, it is only a minutes walk to the beach, and maybe 5 minutes walk to the shops and cafes in town. The beds were really comfortable, the top floor bedroom was great for our sons who loved having their own sofa and TV, and their is a single bed in a link bedroom which was perfect for our daughter. The master bedroom is huge, with a stunning balcony and view. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need to cook for a family. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to return another year.
This cottage is located on the hill leading down to Ventnor Beach and has superb sea views. It includes a pair of binoculars to watch the passing ships. Coming from New Zealand where we regularly attend Art Deco weekends at Napier, we loved the Art Deco furnishings. We were also amused by the comical duck tiles in the bathroom.. Overall the perfect location to unwind.
This was our third visit to Stonesthrow Cottage. We love it. The owner lives in the house for half the year and has a network of helpful, friendly, people who ensure that it is well maintained. We stayed for 2 weeks and could not have been anywhere on the Island that would have suited us more. When it rained we were happy to stay in and enjoy our surroundings.
The location of the house was perfect for the beach and town centre. Nice touch was the bottle of wine on arrival, but it didn't take long to find the Spyglass Inn, two minutes walk from the property perfect pint and good pub grub. The views from the house were amazing, you can almost touch the sea. Bedroom 1 has a balcony overlooking the beach and bedroom two has the same view through a nice picture window. Both bathrooms have wet room type showers. Nice cosy lounge and kitchen is perfect if you fancy doing all your own cooking.
I stayed at Stonesthrow with my husband and my sister. This was our second stay at and we had a perfect time. As before, Jamie met us when we arrived and he went out of his way to be helpful and friendly.
The cottage is well laid out for the three of us as my sister stays on the second floor, where she has her own en-suite and we use the main bedroom on the first floor where you can sleep with the French doors open and hear the sea. It is wonderfully relaxing.
There had been some improvements since last year - the main one being an improvement to the first floor balcony, where we sat several times to enjoy the view. Also, I was pleased to find a cafetière in the kitchen this time, so we enjoyed coffee in the mornings. Thank you.
We are hoping to return next year and are looking forward to it already.
I'm sorry it has taken so long to write this review, but it kept slipping my mind as it has been a busy year.
