“Lovely stay”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

We stayed in the Eversley out of season in October, which meant the place was just a bit under-occupied! The staff were all warm and welcoming, and very helpful - always friendly and always happy to provide assistance.

We'd arrived with a ten month old baby in tow, and we'd requested a room near the lounge so we could use our baby monitor. We were duly put in room 2 which was next to the lounge, but had good solid walls so you weren't disrupted by noise.

Breakfast was individually cooked, with fruit salad on offer as well. As well as the obvious English Breakfast, there was a veggie sausage, kippers and haddock as well. Our son always had a napkin put on his highchair, which was a nice touch.

We only ate in the restaurant one night - our final one. Normally the restaurant menu doesn't start until 7pm (although they have a bar meals menu) but they brought it forward for us so we could dine earlier and get our son to bed. The restaurant was perhaps a tad old fashioned hotel food - one meat, fish and a vegetable course, with vegetables. Nothing amazingly adventurous, but I guess it depends what you prefer. Portion-wise, it's perhaps more geared towards people taking the three or five course menu rather than buying two courses individually.

I stayed on my own for 4 nights during September. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and they were always very obliging. The room was clean and bright. The food at the hotel was excellent although I heard a few people ask for honey at breakfast. The hotel is in a good position at the top of a very steep hill down to the seafront and on same level as town centre that is in easy walking distance.

We stayed at the Hotel for two nights over the August Bank Holiday. The Hotel sits at the top of a steep hill leading down to the beach. Ventnor town can be readily accessed along a fairly flat road about three hundred yards away. The dining room is pleasant and clean as were all the other parts of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was a little dated, but clean, as was the en-suite bathroom. The rooms lacked home comforts. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and its value for money. The breakfasts were very good and there was a good choice. There is an outside pool, although it seemed to be in the shade quite a lot of the time. I would recommend the hotel to others and use it again.

Room Tip: None of the rooms have any real views and you cannot get a see view. Request a room facing the road.

two adults two kids stayed here aug 10 for a week , Absolutley brilliant, the room was really comfy and the hospitality was fab, Ventnor is a great place to stay but quite hilly. The pool at the hotel was lovely and the food was A1. Our room(23) was really good as we have teenage kids , there was two in one so we had our own space . There was even a cliff walk right outside our room. Couldnt fault the hotel it was lovely.Breakfast was nice with lots of choices although it could have been a little hotter,The pool in the garden was well kept and spacious.the gardens were beautiful.

The stayed over the August bank holiday weekend in room 29, which is a family ensuite. I believe this is the only family room they had, but there were quite a few other families staying so perhaps not.

Our 5 year old loved the bunk beds, as he'd never been on them before. The adult bed, however, was another story. For the first night my husband tried to sleep on the right hand side, and complained in the morning that he'd had a very uncomfortable night. I tried sleeping on that side on the 2nd night and ended up crawling into the bottom bunk as I woke up with a terrible backache! We mentioned it to the staff on our 3rd and final day, and after investigation it was discovered that one of the legs of the bed had buckled under! It was fixed promptly and we all had a decent sleep for our last night. The room was generally clean, but there were a few bits that had been missed -- some mildew on the bottom of the shower control, and some unidentifyable crud on the scatter cusions. They also forgot to re-stock our toilet roll so I had to go down to reception to ask for some (I couldn't call as the phone didn't work). The wifi was also not accessible in our room as it didn't reach that far -- not great when you're trying to entertain yourself of an evening after your young child has gone to bed!

I want to leave this review by mentioning the positive parts of our stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful, especially one girl from Eastern Europe (I didn't catch her name, I'm afraid). They all seemed to be there all day -- from breakfast to last orders, and we were getting a bit worried about them working such long hours! The breakfast was lovely, with a good selection of cereals and a lovely fresh fruit salad. You could also build your own cooked breakfast, rather than having to choose from pre-selected combinations. We didn't have a full dinner in the restaurant, but did visit it for puddings, were were delicious. Our son also enjoyed the hotel pool.

Overall, I would say the hotel is worth a punt.

We were recommended this hotel by our son who has stayed here with his family fro the last 4 years. We stayed for 5 nights on a B&B rate. We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff who previous to our arrival had arranged a room on the first floor to accommodate my incapacitated wife who is recovering from a broken leg. The room was light & airy very clean and the walk in shower for my wife was perfect. The breakfast was very good, freshly cooked food and plenty of it. The lounge & bar areas are very comfortable and it is an easy place to relax. The only negative point was they ran out of draught beer on Saturday and also lager on Sunday night, we were offered bottled beer at the same price so we were not out of pocket. We would definitely go again for a break good value and a relaxing place

I stayed at the Eversley Hotel for 2 nights in August with my daughter, my two grandchildren and my mother - ages ranging from 3 to 84. We were welcomed by a very helpful and friendly gentleman who showed us to our rooms and explained where everything was. The rooms we had were very spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The hotel had an outside pool which we didn't use but it looked very nice and well looked after. There were sun beds in the gardens. We had a very enjoyable break and wished we had booked for longer. Would definitely recommend
