For lunch we had lovely, fresh, crisp pizza. Although they looked a bit on the puffy side, they were really light with simple and novel toppings. Go for the large size and wash it down with one of their cocktails or beers.
For dinner (on a different day!) we had roasted tomatoes and mozzarella and the seafood chowder both of which were delicious. The ambience is cosy, with the tables set to still give some privacy (although I know from other reviews not everyone agrees). Loved it.

We loved the efficient friendly service and lack of ostentation here. The food is so much better than the hambrough or hillside and without any of the strange service and stilted atmosphere. Honest wooden tables, imaginative menu without pretensions, good value for the quality of cooking and ingredients. Fish chowder was soft, smokey and refined. Crab with asparagus mousse, delicate. Carmel fondant light and oozing. Gooseberries and panacotta, tangy but would be better served out of the mould to increase flavour and allow it to relax.
Brunch menu looks great too with a mug of builders tea for £1. What great crowd pleaser that must be!

Food was pretty good and service efficient. We went at a funny time (Sunday at 4pm) so can't really comment on atmosphere. No working toilet though!

The person we were staying with in Ventnor recommended this place and we couldn't have been more pleased. Good cocktails, interesting and delicious food, and friendly service, with prices well below what we'd expect. Next time I visit Ventnor, I'll be sure to visit Cantina. It's a place I could see going to very often if I lived in town.
