Very over-priced! We booked into a 'super deluxe room with a balcony' for £120 per night. The room descriptions and website pictures are VERY misleading! Having seen the hotel website we were expecting something remarkable. It was not. There was nothing 'super', nor 'deluxe' about the room and Isle of Wight tourism board must do something about this. The room (9) was smaller and poorer in quality than your average travelodge. The carpet was dirty and the bed was very uncomfortable. The TV was very dated and had only 5 analogue channels. There was only one bedside table and nowhere for the kettle to be plugged in (you had to swap plugs with the TV if you wanted to boil the kettle). The balcony was more of an open veranda with no privacy from adjacent rooms. The room did not contain a bath, which was the biggest disappointment. However, we complained about the room and were immediately upgraded to a 'superior deluxe room with balcony' (room 20) which was larger and contained a bath. Still, the carpet was dirty and there was no minibar or wifi available. Also, the noise from other rooms, the bar below, the kitchen opposite and the adjacent stairwell was horrendous at night time! The hotel is basically trading on its excellent location and awesome view, which nevertheless does not justify the £120 per night. The staff, however, were very courteous and cleaned the rooms to a high standard. There was tea and coffee in the room and excellent free toiletries. There were free towels and slippers presented nicely on the bed for our arrival. Breakfast was very good and service in the restaurant was to a high standard. However, the hotel is certainly not a 4 star. More like an over-priced 3 star. Free Wifi would have been preferable for our mobile phones as Ventnor has very poor signal reception. We definately will not return unless the price is reduced.

This is a fantastic hotel with stunning views from most of the bedrooms and from the restaurant. This is our 2nd visit to the island & to this hotel and it is still as lovely as before. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were always on hand for any questions or dilemas (we experienced non of the latter). The couple of down sides to the hotel is the price of the rooms. We stayed in a Double Seaview room BB for the first night & this was £118. For the 2nd & 3rd nights we upgraded to a super deluxe room for £130 BB. For the extra £12 we got our own balcony, larger room & larger tv with a dvd player. I think that if you are on more of a budget there are the same standard hotels on the island for cheaper (but not maybe with such wonderful views). If you are travelling with someone who cannot manage stairs then this would be a problem as the restaurant is down a 3/4 flights of stairs and there is no lift or ramp. Car parking can also be an issue. There is limited parking right outside the hotel so once you find a space it could be an idea to stay there. Or failing that what my husband & I have done is go to a Tourist Information Centre and buy a tourist parking permit. This allows you unlimited to parking to numerous council car parks around the island. There is one just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel so thwe permit would come in handy if no parking available at the hotel. The only other things is in a couple of areas of the hotel inside & out it could do with a lick of paint!!

We would definately recommend this hotel to everyone (I would personally ignore the bad comments on here as we have never experienced anything bad). On the whole this is a brilliant hotel in the wonderful picturesque town of Ventnor.

The Wellington Hotel is a great little hotel with rooms that are very clean, modern and have plenty of room. The balcony views from the room are breath taking on a beautiful sunny day. Parking a car is a little bit of an issue, but we parked in a large car park on your left before you make a right into Belgrave Rd, most cases have wheels on them nowadays so I don't see what the issue is. We went down to the sea front in the evening and ate at a fantastic little Tapas place al fresco looking out to the sea whilst a cruise ship sailed by lighting up like a beacon. Next day it was down to eat breakfast on the large decked balcony of the hotel and then off to the great sandy beach at Ventnor for a swim, some rays and a great big ice cream. All in all a superb weekend.

Hotel was overlooking the beach so a great location. The room and bathroom wrere nice and clean. The family room we had was big enough for the family ie 2 adults and 2 kids (both under 7). Breakfast was nice but could have done with some croissants :)
Parking was a problem but managed to park up the road - about a 2 min walk to the hotel.
Service was great - all the staff we encountered were extrmely polite and helpful

We stayed in the Wellington Hotel for just the one night. The off-road parking is extremely limited and there is no-where else to realistically park nearby. The staff were friendly and we were accommodated in a large room with a sea-view, however, there is no guarantee that the room will include a balcony as show on the website. The family room consisted of a kingsize bed with two blow-up beds for the children, a nice idea, and very comfortable however I think a little disappointing for the price. The room, I must add, was very clean with a nice tv, good tea making facilities and a nice spacious bath-room with shower head. The breakfast was nice, with a large range of food from cereals and fruit to a full english. The room over-looked a lovely seaview balcony which I can imagine would be lovely on a warm day. All in all a nice hotel 3 star accommodation at 4 or 5 star prices.

After reading the very mixed reviews on here my partner and I travelled to The Wellington with some reservation this weekend.

We were greated by a very friendly receptionist who helped us store our bikes in the hotel. The room was large, clean, had a fab view and a decent bathroom. All was comfortable but realtively basic. The room had basic tea facilities, a standard 4 channel TV and hairdryer, but nothing exciting or 'wow-able'.

The view from the room was outstanding and the best part. Breakfast was fine, althought service here was not the most friendly in the mornings. The parking was most certainly limited, however we didnt really struggle- our main problem was the bad parking of other guests!

All in all its a solid 7 of out 10, fab views, average food, mixed levels of service (front of house far better than waiting staff), but not really worth the £120 a night that we spent on the room. i would recommend this in the future if it was cheaper!

I was a bit worried about the hotel as it was the 8th best hotel in Ventnor , but we had a wonderfult time. The food was very good , the staff were very helpful and professional and our room had a hugh balconey over looking the bay which was beautiful. The location could not be bettered.
