You would struggle to find such wonderful accomodation at such a reasonable price. It was so good i went back again a few weeks later. With views over the sea at Ventnor and comfortable rooms, you are well set for a great break. Thanks Bob and Esme

I stayed at the Harbour View Hotel, which I think is now called St Aubins Villa, last year and have highly recommend it to all my friends. Ventnor is one of those hidden gems that you come across in Britain only through word of mouth. The Harbour View has without doubt the best location in the town. It is right on the front with the best views. The only thing the town lacks is a night club which at my age was actually a good point. Ventnor is good for walks, views, pubs and food. The Harbour View Hotel is clean, friendly and perfect for a quiet stay. I will certainly be going again.

Harbour View, now named St Augustines Lodge, has been our favourite place to stay on the IOW for some time and is still run very well by Bob & Esme, who are really friendly and helpful. The rooms all have good views, mainly of the sea, are large and well furnished and Bob's breakfasts are always good. This posh rooms and breakfast hotel works well for us because there are lots of good places to eat on the seafront or in the town. Prices have gone up but checking out the alternatives in Ventnor showed it is still good value.

We come here because it has so much character and warmth and we are always made to feel welcome by the friendly proprietors Bob and Esme. It's got to be the best spot in Ventnor with great views over the sea and a sunny terrace where we eat our traditional English breakfast - probably eat too much, in fact- but then we can walk it all off by visiting Bonchurch or Steephill Cove. Plenty of good bars and restaurants in area too. Ideal for short breaks and don't have to queue up at airports to get here!

As a pair of recycled teenagers we came to The Isle of Wight looking for a chance to recharge our batteries and chose The St. Augustine Villa purely by its appearance on the internet.
We were not disappointed either by the friendly population of the Island, nor by the reception provided by Esme and Bob.
The Villa lived up to all we had hoped,- homely, as opposed to flashy and modern, extreemly comfortable and not clinical- but best of all was the complete freedom to come and go as we wished, with advice from Esme at breakfast if we had any doubts about our day's itinery. Nothing could be too much trouble- all we had to do was ask.

Obviously nothing is perfect, (such as car parking difficulties) but such matters can always be solved with a little cooperation which is an attribute that the villa generates so fully with its friendly atmosphere
Suggest room 3 is a good bet, double aspect and with gorgeous sea view (and only one floor up!)

Well satisfied of Redbourn

We had great expectations of this place having read the reviews. We go away frequently and always look for recommendations but felt somewhat lead astray by this one!
The location was lovely and the house imposing. Our room was at the front with what was described as a superior sea view and we could see the sea from the standard window. The room was a reasonable size and furnished with oddments of furniture, which was fine given the property style. However, the thick dust on the wall decorations, furniture and bathroom fitments, the smears on the mirrors and the hair in the shower left us quite taken aback given that we had read earlier that it was the cleanest place someone else had stayed !
Overall, there was a feeling of penny pinching ande lack of attention to detail. Breakfast was adequate, but we have never stayed anywhere before ( especially at this grading and price) that puts the orange juice (no other choice) ready in glasses on the table, where some of the cereal jars were empty 2 days running and where the only preserve offered was a dollop of marmalade in a dish on the table.
Finally, despite the lovely location we were kept awake each night by very loud local youngsters congregating on the front below our window. We recognise this is outside of the owners control but our stay did not turn out to be as relaxing as hoped. Thank goodness for the lovely weather!

The Harbour View has a great position overlooking the sea in Ventnor, and is within (steep) walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants etc. The owners are very welcoming people and take a genuine interest in their guests so its a comfortable place to stay.

The rooms are decorated in a Victorian style in keeping with the building, so a bit "shabby chic" furniture (don't expect boutique/modern) with white duvet cover, good sized towels etc. Good shower with instructions which was useful ! TV with decent reception in Ventnor which was a first (included Sky News). Breakfast nicely done with best fresh fruit salad, full English etc.

I suspect due its position this B & B is not cheap, we paid £101 per night in August. However The Royal wanted £190 per night B & B, and The Wellington where we have previously stayed was £130 so pro rata the rate was OK.

The only slight negatives is the parking which is cramped, however as the Harbour wasn't full it wasn't a problem for us, and you are in town so there may be some noise at night in high summer.

All in all recommended.
