“Short Break”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Just got back from a short break on the Isle of Wight. I would and will recommend St Maur guest house in Ventnor to our friends and acquaintances. Our room was lovely, very clean, food excellent, and a very friendly owner and dinning room staff. If we go to the Isle of Wight again we will book to go back there again.

Booked a 3 night stay in March 2012 excellent breakfast, bedroom on the ist floor had a balcony nice TV but only 4 channels only let down was the old fashioned bedding no longer used to blankets, however no complaints as everything was spotless and plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpfull the honesty bar was well stocked and the evening menu was well thought out. Very hard to find fault but I do like my gravy thicker but im sure if I had asked the chef would have obliged. Will stay again.

Just returned home from a fantastic time at our favourite hotel.
We have been coming to this hotel, for a 4 night stay this time of the year, every year for as long as we can remember. We have stayed in all the rooms over this time. All rooms are very clean & well equipped. The hotel staff are friendly & efficient. Food is of high quality with a good choice of dinner & hearty breakfast. Happy to recommend St Maur to everyone.

Room Tip: All rooms well equipped, but rooms 7&8 on top floor really nice

This is a gem of a family run and friendly hotel. We had Room 7 on the top floor which was very spacious and dual aspect sea views. The hotel is extremely comfortable with a very impressive lounge. The staff were chatty and friendly. David, the owner for 23 years, does the cooking and the simple, daily changing menu, with fresh ingredients, made breakfast and dinner a pleasure. Together with good housekeeping and a relaxed and delightful atmosphere, made for a very enjoyable stay. The AA**** rating is well deserved. We will definitely put St Maur on our shortlist for next year. The Winter special offer was excellent value.

We found this hotel via the internet as it offered a discounted winter break - even the ferry was included in the price.
We stayed in one of the superior rooms with a sea view. The accommodation was decorated to a high standard with a bath and shower on offer. Plenty of tea and coffee available in the room.
Staff were very friendly and the food plentiful and cooked to a very high standard with plenty of choice.
If we return to the Isle of Wight in the future we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a higher level room for a view of the sea.

A lovely tidy Inn, with spactious reception rooms and honesty bar. Dave the owner was very welcoming and his staff are a huge assett. Very friendly and chatty and they manage to get all the guests chatting at breakfast and dinner without even trying, the breakfast and evening meal option was a bargain. My girlfriend booked two nights for my birthday and Dave had even bought a birthday cake for me, without being asked and free of charge, what a star. Unfortunately we had to check out after the first night due to last minute work commitments which was a shame.

If you are looking at a budget break to Ventnor in clean, tidy and spacious accomodation with welcoming staff look no further.
