Just came back from a wonderful long weekend staying in the St Maur Hotel. We went with another family and we were all very impressed by the cleanliness and interior of the rooms and friendliness of all the staff working there. All the people staying in the hotel were very friendly as well which made the weekend more pleasant. We very much enjoyed the fabulous english breakfasts and full on dinners all at an extremely reasonable price. Highlights include relaxing downstairs drinking cups of tea and coffee in the evenings as well as walking to the nearby beach and observing the stunning views of the cliffs and sea. There is lots to do with your children close by including water sports, climbing, crazy golf and lots more. All in all everything is done perfectly with absolutely nothing to complain about when staying in St Maur and we hope to return next year!

Room Tip: Room five is the biggest out of all nine rooms if you want more space however they are all lovely!

We were impressed with David and his staff who made our stay delightful. We had a room right at the top of the house, which was hard work after walking around the various places of interest. Having said this, the room was always sparkling clean, the breakfast was lovely with plenty to eat and lots of choice and the holiday location was very relaxing. Thank you so much

Room Tip: Good clean b&b with a friendly and professional service. Located up a hill. Top floor has steep...

My husband and I returned to this Hotel for a second visit accompanied by our 2 grandchildren aged 6 and 9 years. We were not disappointed. All the staff were, once again, helpful and friendly. The two children are not easy feeders but they were asked every day what they would like for evening meal. My granddaughter said that the breakfasts were "what dreams are made of". The children quickly settled into their twin bedded en suite room and we were only a few steps away in our double en suite room. When asked if they would return in the future, without hesitation they both said yes. David certainly maintains a very high standard at very fair prices. We will return.

Room Tip: Room 11 is twin bedded, very light and airy and quiet. Room 14 has a balcony, is darker and noise c...

We stayed at St Maur on a Monday to Friday break. The weather was hot and sunny throughout. In fact, it was too hot to drive around exploring the island and so we decided to spend all of our days in Ventnor. Each morning, after an excellent breakfast, we walked through the park and along the coastal path to Ventnor beach (a very pleasant 5-10 minute walk with lovely views) and spent 2 to 3 hours relaxing on the beach and swimming in the sea. It is a quick walk from the beach up to the shops in the town centre. We bought our lunch each day at the Coop (sandwiches/salads/fruit) and ate in the cool shade of Ventnor Park. It is also an ideal place to sit and read a book. The gardeners have done a great job keeping the park looking magnificent in the hot weather. At one end of the park, near the picturesque lodge, is a kiosk where we enjoyed tea and cake/ice cream while watching the action on the putting green. You can also easily walk from here in the opposite direction along the coastal path to the beautiful bay of Steephill Cove (where you can also enjoy food and refreshments on the beach front) and on to the Botanic Gardens. The hotel is ideally located to not need to use a car. We did not drive anywhere during our stay, which made it much more relaxing. We also enjoyed being able to walk everywhere knowing that we would be well fed on our return to the hotel! The meals were all very good. I particularly enjoyed the delicious home-made soups between the starters and main courses. Our room, as always, was very pleasant, comfortable and quiet and the hotel staff worked hard to make our stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one. We are already looking forward to our next visit to St Maur.

Having read the reviews on this site we were hoping for a very pleasant stay indeed. Unfortunately I think our hopes were built up to expect fantastic accomodation, superb breakfast and friendly service. The room was in need of some tlc and we were awoken early in the morning by shouting and loud voices from what must be the kitchen. When we went to breakfast we were greeted by two teenage girls who looked as if they would rather be anywhere else but there. The breakfast itself was mediocre at best, the bacon salty, the sausages tasteless, the fried egg hard and the tomatoes under cooked. We love the Island and will return but not to St. Maur.

Room Tip: Try another Hotel.

From the moment we contacted the hotel we were very impressed. David provided us with good accurate information and throughout our trip (just 3 days) he continued to be very helpful. His staff provide an excellent service and always with a smile.
Never had so many towels in a bathroom even down to a flannel and all of good quality, toiletries provided were also good.
The room was excellent although as I have said our room was at the top it was light and airy.
Plenty of choice on the tray in the room of various teas, coffees, hot chocolate and enough milk for more than just a cup or two!
Breakfasts all cooked to order and a good choice of fresh fruit and cereals. Evening meals were larger than we are used to so asked for smaller portions after our first evening.
This hotel is run very efficiently and deserves all the good reviews. Thank you to David and his staff for helping to make our stay very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Top floor with Juliet balcony views across to the sea Room 7 for us but be aware the last flight of...
