Our second stay at the St Maur proved to be just as enjoyable as the first. Warm welcome from David and all the staff in the Dining Room. Excellent food, good choice - just the job when you have been out all day.
Accommodation was everything you could want, warm and comfortable ensuring a good night's sleep.
The evening is spent relaxing in the lounge over coffee and drinks, chatting with other guests or quietly reading.
We hope to be back again.

My partner and I have just returned from this lovely hotel where we had a great 4 days away. We had room 2 which was looking out to sea and it was comfortable, clean and warm. The food was absolutely superb and we could not fault any thing. The price for the four days was amazing and we will be back. Thank you so much. Pat and Graham..

Thank you for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. We found the atmosphere very friendly and the room was very well looked after every day. The location is ideal for a stroll down to Steephill Cove and we used it as a base for touring all over the island. This is an old fashioned guest house a long way from the commercial glitz of modern hotels which made it all the more charming.

We have just returned from a blustery half term break in the Isle of Wight with our 5 year old daughter. We found St Maur hotel online with a winter special offer break. It was a wonderful and welcoming family run hotel which made us very welcome. Our superior family room was very spacious and comfortable with a sea view balcony. Mealtimes were particularly good with a great English breakfast and then a 6-course dinner to look forward to. Always plenty of choice and David the owner even prepared some meals especially for our daughter. We loved the honesty bar for a pre-dinner drink and cosy lounge to relax in.

Ventnor itself was a lovely resort and we can particularly recommend Steephill Cove for rock pools and the beach at Seaview.

We will definitely return to St Maur for a great value seaside break.

We had a lovely stay over half term with our son. We had a large attic room with two windows overlooking the sea and a good sized bathroom. The hotel was very clean, our room was cleaned and vacuumed every day and we had a plentiful supply of towels. Our room had plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities and biscuits. The bed was large (a queen size I think) and a bit short for my tall husband. Our son slept on the sofa bed, which was next to a radiator bracket - perhaps this could be removed or covered in a rubber cover in case someone's child knocks against it. The food was very good and most days was served promptly and very hot. None of us could manage all 5 courses in one go, but some people may be able to. Lovely food, very clean hotel and very friendly staff. Would definitely consider going here again.

Room Tip: No lift for those who may need assistance on first and second floors. Room 7 was large with two win...

Four nights at a remarkably good price (though November looks even more of a bargain than October). We had a great bedroom, very large bathroom, and the whole hotel was scrupulously clean and polished. Very good quality food, all home cooked, and friendly staff. What not to like?
No criticisms at all except that the lighting in our bedroom was not very good which did not help reading but that is a tiny quibble. We shall return.

Room Tip: Large rooms at the front on the first floor.

We stayed here on a two night special with the ferry thrown in. It was good value and a lovely old building. We had the front bedroom with a balcony, we could just see the sea!
It was a large bedroom and very clean. The shower was not very efficient but the water was hot.
We had dinner as part of the special offer. It was OK, five courses, but we felt it would have been better if there had been less courses and more choice for each course. The food was hot but fairly bland.
Dinner was between 6.30-7.15 and after that the place was dead. We tried taking a walk out, but the sea front was a long way to walk and it was very dark with nobody about.
We loved the help yourselves bar and the staff were very friendly. Good value, if a little old fashioned.

Room Tip: The ones at the front have a nice view.
