Great little steam railway which brought back memories of bygone days. Travelled to Port Erin and visited the excellent railway museum next to the station, very good value at a pound. Nice shop inside as well with very good value products. On the way back got off at Castletown and visited the Nautical Museum and Castle before a bite to eat and a couple of beers in the excellent "Sidings" pub (Next to station), it serves some great real ales & food is good too. Plenty to do on this trip and worth spending the whole day meandering and reminiscing.

An absolute delight! Still as it was in 1910, but a fully-functioning tourist railway with genuine vintage steam engines and carriages, and all the stations and cafes etc still there to enjoy. You need to study the timetable to plan your day, as the trains are regular but not very frequent! Runs between Douglas and Port Erin, the whole journey taking an hour each way. Wonderful value!

We travelled from Port Erin to Douglas return on this facinating narrow gauge railway. Our Engine was Fenella and she was a bit tempremental on our return journey which should have taken an hour but was more like 1hour 25 mins due to loosing steam pressure. The view from the carriage is a bit restricted due to the vegetation at the side of the line but the overallexperience was good

The line from Douglas to Port Erin is the only remaining section of the Isle of Man's original three line narrow-gauge steam railway system (though the equally fascinating historic electric railway still runs north to Ramsey, from the other end of Douglas). Services are steam-hauled by the original locomotives. Douglas Railway Station is very well preserved with an excellent station restaurant (well used by locals at lunchtime).
