“Steam I-o-M”

Try it, it's splendid. Ramsey is worth a visit, the museum on the station fills in any time needed to wait for a train. A long and interesting journey, made especially interesting for me as the train was double headed diesel and steam, and included a flat truck loaded with Peel cars, the smallest production car ever.

“PIE AND PEAS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Travelled on the Pie and Peas special. very good meal. Seemed a bit expensive at first sight but when you consider the rail fare within the price, it makes it a better deal

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Travel into the past on this Victorian method of transport. See the countryside and get off by the beach in Port Erin or at one of the stops along the way.
A bit expensive unless you buy an Island Explorer Pass.

“Douglas to Castletown Dining Car experience - small portions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Great experience overall for the novelty factor but for £40 a head they need to sort out the portion sizes. Garlic mushroom starter was basically two mushrooms finely chopped and the chicken chasseur main course was literally a chicken breast in a bit of sauce with a small plate of vegetables between three of us (a very small plate). No bread to help fill you up. The food was also mediocre at best which was a bit of a shame.

“Great fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

Very useful steam train, running perfectly to timetable. We took it to the end, walked round the coast to another village and caught the bus back. And the veggie box in the cafe in Douglas station was incredible value at £4 for "eat as much as you can get in the box."
