“Quiet Stay!”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

I stayed here for a night. As mentioned by some of the previous reviewers the reception and lobby needs updating for sure. But the rooms are clean and quiet. Comfy pillows. I had sew view which I think was well worth it!

Felt like i was stepping back into the 80's decor wise - you have got to check out that carpeting! Bedrooms and bed linens were clean, bed was very hard with foam pillows. Staff extremely friendly (which made up a few points for the poor decor) and food was OK with ample choice. Wifi in the bar but bring your LAN cable if you want to use your computer in your room. In summary, i won't be going back as not at the standard i expected.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are probably the best but not for light sleepers due to main road that runs parrarlel...

Rooms a bit small and functional, but average for the U.K., however the housekeeping staff did a great job and kept the place in good order, very efficient, as were all the staff we met at the hotel.
Breakfast was probably about the best I've ever had in any U.K hotel.
Great views.
The spa centre makes this an ideal location for a family to explore the island.

Just don't go and avoid at all cots unless of course you don't mind traffic noise, fighting youths in the car park shrieking at all hours and overpriced accommodation.

I found all aspects of my stay here good, the front desk were friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable and spacious and had nice views over Douglas bay and the breakfast was also nice with an excellent variety of food. If I were nit picking, the only very slight negative point was that the curtains were not very well fitting in the bedroom so this led to sunlight coming into the room very early in the morning (Some guests might like the early morning sunlight but personally, I prefer a darker room). However, all in all good value for Douglas and I would definitely stay there again when I'm in the Isle of Man.

Room Tip: sea view rooms have the best view

Bit of a disappointment when you first see hotel from outside but facilities once in are very good.
Staff on the whole very friendly and helpful.
We stayed 4 nights in a deluxe double room which was very spacious and had faced the bay.
Spa was nicely equipped with reasonable sized pool but saunas are single sex only.
The one area we felt let it down was the dissapointing dinner buffet both in terms of choice and quality. Breakfast was reasonably good and probably what you would expect from a Best Western Hotel.
We stayed at the beginning of April 2012 and the whole place was a bit quiet including the Casino and nightclub, I'm sure it will be different in the summer.

Room Tip: Go for a deluxe room, a good bit larger than standard rooms and have the sea view. Don't go on...

Stayed here for a short break, room only. First impressions were of a rather tired 60's type hotel (but not in a trendy retro style). Our room was on the 2nd floor above the kitchens and car~park (all evenly numbered rooms seem to face that direction),it was spotless and the lack of view didnt really bother us but later, when settling to sleep the noise from the refrigeration system/extractor fans(?) directly below these rooms did..Imagine trying to sleep in a laundrette with all the dryers going,it was a v.warm night and closing the window was not an option, in anycase it didnt make much difference, the low thrumming/whirring/throbbing sound seemed to be amplified by the walls, sleep was impossible.
The next morning I went straight to reception to ask for a room change, I had anticipated that this may cause problems as the rooms at the front of the building all had sea views and I thought this may be considered an up~grade & therefore cost more. However, Lucia, the receptionist on duty didnt hesitate to offer one of these rooms, it was light, bright, spacious had a wonderful sea view and despite the traffic (which died down by 11'ish) was blissfully quiet in comparison.Lucia also told us we could move in in our own time.
Later we went to the Paragon restaurant downstairs for a light breakfast (the b'fast buffet looked v.appetising but we couldnt face it) but because we only wanted coffee and toast the young waiter Aaron sat us at a table in the bar area, served us promptly and this was without charge(hope this dosnt get Aaron into trouble, it shouldnt, as he and Lucia saved the holiday for us).We also ate in the bar later, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, and infact all the staff we dealt with were a credit to Best Western, on that basis alone we would recommend a stay but unless you can sleep through anything (all the rooms at the back would be affected by the noise) try to ensure a room at the front.(our ratings are post the room change)

Room Tip: it seems the un~evenly numbered rooms are all at the front and are the quietest rooms
