This is the first review I have ever written, and the reason for writing this review is simply to highlight to travellers the sheer shock of paying a premium rate to stay in such a shoddy hotel.
1. There is no air conditioning, so if it's hot you simply cannot breathe in the room. 2. It was filthy. 3. The furniture is all marked and stained. 4. the rooms are tiny. 5. The windows are filthy. 6. The paint work is crumbling away, especially around windows. 7. No double glazing therefore the noise from the streets, especially the constant trotting of horse hoofs, is not dulled. 8. As soon as you walk in it smells like a brewery due to the casino and bars. 9. The bathroom was missing the toiletries and to top it off, no power, called for service was told on the way, an hour later I went to find someone only to find a guy who was just standing in reception, and when asked about my room he simply said, oh sorry I forgot I was meant to come up... At over a hundred pound for the night I have stayed at far superior, cleaner and more modern travel lodges. Disgusting place. Completely ruined our weekend.

Room Tip: Don't stay there, find somewhere else.

Have just had a week in this hotel having been to four best western hotels before, Canterbury, Hull and Scotland was really looking forward to this trip which was planned at the last moment. But was so disappointed with this hotel, the carpets are dirty at reception and the front entrance. Its dark and dismal looking inside, with only one lift working. I have to say when you compare it to the other best western hotels this hotel is run down. Bedrooms ok clean but small. We paid just over £1000 for a sea view room with the ferry crossing and the car for the two of us. From the 5th August to the 11th 2013. Then to find other people had travelled by plane and been given free wine every night for £600 was no joke.

The staff are nice and helpful and the food is ok but the same most nights. It has really put me off best western hotels; I can tell you. Its sister hotel is wonderful, the Norman Wisdom bar is fab and the whole place is clean and fresh looking, I would suggest you shop around as much better places can be found. It will be a long time before I go to another best western hotel that’s for sure. this is a 2/3 star hotel

Room Tip: top floor sea view

we stayed at above hotel on above dates.we had 3 seaview rooms on 2nd floor.bedrooms were small but adequate but all the carpets would need to be thrown out as were very dirty and smelly.we had to keep patio door open all the time when we were in rooms.bathrooms were ok but tiny.at breakfast we got one half slice of toast each and when we asked for more were told to eat what was there first treated like children.otherwise the breakfast was ok.reception staff were quite friendly when there but noticed reception left unattended a lot.there was absolutely no information for tourists available at reception -no brochures of any kind.one lift was out of order for the entire 4 days.all carpets at entrance of hotel were filthy.certainly not a 4 star hotel.more like 1 or 2.would not stay at this hotel again.never saw a sign of manager at any time.

Room Tip: go to another hotel

We stayed here from Wednesday 7th August until Monday 12th August for a friend's wedding and mini-break.

There are all sorts of surcharges for sea view rooms, deluxe rooms or the Derby suite. We opted for a standard room without breakfast. Our room on the 4th floor was served by one lift (the other remained out of use for the total of our stay). The room itself was compact but a spacious bathroom with black tiles and a good assortment of towels that we changed daily. Our window faced the large car park (however it captured a lot of the day's sun towards the afternoon.)

The staff that changed the bed linen etc were very efficient however perhaps they should consider the noise they make on the corridor. A few times I was woken by them shouting to their colleagues. They were friendly.

In the evening of the first night there was an argument which escalated to the main reception and car park and lasted for nearly 2 hours when the police were finally called around 2am. Due to the arena like design of the buildings, any sound made in the car park reached all the windows and often seemed very loud. This was also the case on the Saturday evening after some gentlemen were ejected from the newly opened club and then took to kicking cars as they left. This, again, provided us with an unsatisfactory night's sleep.

There was a also a new nightclub opening on the Saturday. This generated a lot of noise as well as some incredibly drunken and intimidating behaviour for guests of the hotel. The management seemed to accept that the club would be noisy but if it is preventing the hotel from fulfilling its more important requirement then it needs to be altered.

We complained about the lack of sleep on the Saturday and were reimbursed our 85 quid (we had a standard twin room, no breakfast.)

Majority of staff are friendly, especially Ed in the Casino, and the guy behind the Paragon bar on Wednesday evening. Avoid the bingo place - they seemed disinterested in me as a guest of the hotel, breaking conversation with me to deal with a regular. Very rude.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel. A sea view could be nice but the noise of the weekend could disrupt your sleep...

I have just spent 3 nights in the Palace whilst working at the Royal Manx Show, 8th-10th Aug, the hotel is supposed to be 4 star but that is over rated!! Whilst the rooms are ok (i had a double/sea view room) they are no better than a Travelodge or Hoiday Inn and i paid £100/night which didn't include breakfast! Unfortunately my room (although on the 3rd floor) was right above the hotel nightclub entrance which had shrieking females and shouting males outside it until silly o'clock and the music from the club vibrating through the room. I visited other hotels on the front whilst i was there and it is safe to say i will be looking at these for my next business trip to IOM.

Room Tip: You do get excellent views with a Sea View room but wouldn't recommend them for a weekend stay w...

Stayed with family for short break and business trip, had 2 sea view rooms which were ok to a travel lodge standard however no mini fridge which was a little unusual . Had to sleep with patio door open as too hot and stuffy in small rooms otherwise, bathroom ok standard but very small and a squeeze. Reception area smelt a bit funny when we arrived like stale food fat , carpet area could do with replacing perhaps ? Breakfast ok and satisfactory . Nothing more really to say just that the hotel was just "ok" . Not sure what else to compare this hotel to with other isle of man hotels yet. It's definitely not what i would class a 4 star hotel however.

This place is a dump, unless you are a rabbit and happy to stay in the smallest "hutch" of a room ever, although the room was cleaned well every day. Not even wifi nor air con in the rooms, this is year 2013. I would advise anyone who is thinking to book here "don't" affer 7 days my wife and I were at breaking point and I hope I never see the place again, either passing isle of man by boat, or flying overhead. Actually glad my holiday at the hotel is over and am doing this review at home .
