Yes the well priced rooms are not large but if you are going for a holiday you would ask for a larger room with a sea room which would also cut out the noise to the rear, It was the Scooter convention with bikes parked out the back but we knew that before we went - for bowling not biking, Food is excellent as is the service. For the young at heart there is a night club, for the less young a very good piano bar playing music for all taste even a version of Madness songs on request. The Casino is good entertainment if you don't take it seriously and I am sure provides a good night out for hardened gamblers. These three attractions are open till late 5a.m. casino and club but I never heard any noise in the room other than early morning bikes. I thought that the hotel while a little old fashioned was well maintained in the areas I was in but can't comment on all the rooms, Breakfast was first class with a great choice and as you are right on the prom you can walk it off with a good brisk walk, Good choice of drink in the bar and prices no dearer than city centre on the mainland. Check the price read the reviews and make your choice but we got what we paid for which was an excellent price and no complaints from 20 guys aged from 30 - 70 so it can't be that bad.

Room Tip: Obviously sea front gives great view and cuts out the car park - suspect that there are always bikes parked there with an early start. I presume that you can get a larger room for a long stay if you pay extra ?

We stayed here from 26th June to 30th after recently retiring. We have stayed many times when it was the Hilton and when it first changed to Best Western. Unfortunately it's gone down hill dramatically. We were in room 303 which was great directly out of the lift into the room no long walk up the corridor which was a bonus. However the net curtains which are normally at the windows gone, after asking about this we were told some rooms have them others don't this meant close the heavy curtains when getting changed. The mattress's on both beds have seen better days with the noise of springs ringing out when ever you moved. Hypnos mattress in Premier Inns can't be beaten take note Best Western. The was evidence of food on the carpet so the room hadn't been cleaned well from the previous occupants. The food in the bar area was reasonable but it states hand cut chips on the menu I think not but a plate full of scraps! My wife had pate and her comments were bland and resembled a cheap supermarket product. To top it all out of the 4 days stay we were evacuated onto the car park in the morning due to the fire alarm going off. Why, because a new toaster had been installed, come on guys toast burns why place it near a smoke detector for christ sake. I went for a chill out and what do we get a very noisy alarm sounding out and being ordered on to the car park TWICE. I appreciate safety is paramount but this was burnt toast on two days!!!!! A letter of complaint will follow this review.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review following your stay with us. We are sorry that we did not fully meet your expectations on this occasion. We do have a planned programme for replacing the mattresses in our rooms, and will review room 303 as a matter of priority. We are sorry to hear your comment regarding the room's cleanliness and will again address this as a matter of priority. With regard to the fire alarm, again please accept our apologies. I have spoken to our Health and Safety Manager this morning who has confirmed that the sensor heads on the detector have now been adjusted. In addition, in view of the fact that the restaurant is fully manned the detector has been changed from a smoke detector to a heat detector. The self service toaster is a new addition to the restaurant and regrettably came with a few teething problems; with the new measures now in place we trust such "false alarms" will not reoccur in the future. Please feel free to contact our Group Hotels Manager, Mr Robert Duncan, on robert.duncan@palacehotel.co.im should you have any further issues. Once again please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Stayed here in June 2014 as part of a party of 12 guys over for the scooter rally. We had a variety of room combinations and can confirm that the other reviews here regarding noise at the rear of the hotel are accurate. I had a single occupancy sea view room on the 4th floor and found it excellent. The room was not large, but adequate and the decor, fixtures and fittings were all fresh and in good order, the sea view priceless. Inclusive breakfast was very good, with attentive staff, I ordered from the menu kippers with poached eggs and they were fantastic quality and presented beautifully. We also ordered bar good one evening and found this very reasonable with pub grub prices and restaurant quality. The health club facilities are available to residents and are comprehensive and well maintained although the hot tub was out of action at the time of our stay. My only criticism relates to check out, many visitors will be leaving on the early ferry which means they leave before breakfast is available, the hotel information shows that a room service continental is available from 6a.m. which is also too late, we found out afterwards that you can request an earlier room service but didn't try it so can't comment on how well this arrangement works. My suggestion would be that the hotel offer an early Holiday Inn Express style continental for those leaving on the 7.15 ferry. They have after all had your money for this meal which they aren't providing.

Room Tip: Rooms on the sea view side do not suffer from late night disturbance, or A/C noise

The staff in this hotel more than make up for the poor state of the Hotel in general. My wife and I decided to stay here on our 40th anniversary. Thank goodness for excellent food and the friendly staff, the manager had not even the guts to reply to my email sent to him over a week ago.
On reception a young lady called (Jo) made our short break worthwhile what a treasure probably one of the best receptionist we have ever dealt with on our worldwide tours ********

Food was really good and prices reasonable as well.
What a disaster the room had grubby carpets and curtains, really in need of a complete refurbishment ! to call this a four star hotel is a farce and we had upgraded to a double deluxe room what are the others like ?????

We are however very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations regarding the cleanliness of your room - please rest assured that we will look into this as a matter of urgency. Regrettably we have been unable to trace an email from you and would ask that you kindly re-send this to our Group Hotels Manager, Robert Duncan at robert.duncan@palacehotel.co.im, thank you.
