This hotel is central on Douglas' promenade which makes it an ideal location to explore the town. The staff in the hotel were very attentive, friendly and helpful. We had a twin room with balcony overlooking the atrium. The room and bathroom were spacious and the beds were comfy. We even had a sofa in the room, so it was comfortable if you just wanted to read or watch TV. The hospitality tray was refilled daily with tea, coffee, drinking chocolate and biscuits. Breakfast in the morning provided plenty of choice, for vegetarians and carnivores! There was a restaurant in the hotel too (although we didn't dine there) and a bar which provided bar snacks and meals. I couldn't find fault with this hotel at all and would recommend it to anyone visiting Douglas.

We spent four nights here and were wry of some of the 'mediocre' comments. How wrong can people be? We were given a very warm welcome, given clear instructions as to the location of teh car park and our room. The room was vast! The bed, which was two singles zipped, was almost lost. The bathroom with shower cubicle, bath, sink bidet and wc was bigger than some hotel bedrooms we have stayed in. What's more, it was spotless. We did not have a view, but had been aware of that when we booked.
Breakfast was served on the first floor overlooking the bay and the staff were alll very attentive. The choice was excellent.
We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: There is a choice of sea view - but we saw no activity on the sea during our stay, other than the fe...

We arrived at the Sefton Hotel on Monday 30th of April for a 4 night stay for our tenth wedding anniversary on the 1st May. The room we were given although very nice and a sea view, it wasn't quite as we had imagined from the photo. I went to reception and explained that this was a very special trip for us and that my husband suffers from panic attacks so had requested an airy room. The receptionist spoke to the manager who kindly said he would show me a different room for our stay......and that is where our thanks begin. We were given room 107 The Hoggarth SUITE and oh my goodness it was beautiful. I cried when I saw the room. A massive lounge with a view from 3 windows right across Douglas Bay, a bathroom with walk in shower, 2 sinks, jaccuzzi bath with television and a huge bedroom. I brought my husband from the other room and he too could not believe his eyes.
The staff in the Sefton were all lovely from the manager, to reception staff especially Hannah and Carl, Kim the evening housekeeper, staff in Sir Normans bar where we ate a couple of nights and the food was lovely.
Thank you to you all for giving us the chance to have an anniversary we will never forget. Bless you all and see you real soon. Love Helen and Rory King

Room Tip: Certainly worth paying extra for a suite, especially if for a special occasion as they are such luxu...

Bedroom good but the rest was mediocre. Not up to 4 star standard or the money. Wouldn't stay again

Stayed at the Sefton for a friends wedding recently.
Stunning hotel. The staff were very helpful.
The wedding went like clockwork.

The rooms were fabulous, a little warm but after a few glasses of champagne, i didnt mind.
Very clean also.

The bar and restaurant were both great.

Highly recommend

Room Tip: Ask for Atrium room

One can only report what one sees and my stay was quite short. I needed a room to catch up on sleep and a shower, having got off the overnight boat at 6 am and having an appointment in mid-afternoon. The management sorted this out with no fuss and with great efficiency. They freely offered luggage storage and suggested arrangements for the time to be spent waiting for the return boat.in the evening

I really did not find the corridors or the lifts difficult to navigate and I was put in an excellent room (an atrium room) that was spotless (nothing tired about it at all) with plenty of space and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was fine although the shower was a little cramped, possibly in part a function of my own rotundity. My breakfast was brilliant and inclined to generate more rotundity. I was well-received for breakfast in the Harris Room overlooking the bay, a view enhanced by beautiful spring sunshine and the Cumbrian hills in the far distance, the duty manager having ensured that I was expected as I did not appear on the 'overnight list'. The table cloth and napkins were as crisp as could be desired. The buffet breakfast was plentiful, hot and well-cooked although admittedly I was an early arrival ("first up, best dressed" as they say in Lancashire). Sausage and bacon was, I think, local and with plenty of flavour; the potato bread was historic (that's a compliment to its quality rather than a comment on its age). There was a good selection of cereals and juices. Service was quiet and low key but welcoming without being intrusive; I hardly noticed the coffee arrive (which was very soon after sitting down) or the plates disappear and that is how it should be. The toaster was a bit eccentric and semed to toast the crust more than the body of the bread but there was plenty of proper butter pats (no plastic portion packs) and good jam and honey to put on it. Breakfast was thus outstanding and was the only thing that interfered with the subsequent four hour sleep.

I notice that comments on the Isle of Man refer to it being behind the times; if that means that the Sefton is still the sort of place where one can find Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce on the sideboard by the buffet and not have to ask for it and then be met by initial incomprehension with subsequent foray to the bar, then 'old-fashioned' is OK for me.

I certainly thought the prices were reasonable, getting a room about three or four times the size of what I would have got in London for the same price and a very much better breakfast.

We stayed here for three nights in March and did not sleep well for any of the nights. The first room we were given had an industrial extractor outside the window and even though the receptionist said it would quieten down at night we insisted on a new room. We were quickly 'upgraded' to an atrium room. The main issue with the room was the heat - it was like a sauna - and with no outside windows we could not cool it down = three very uncomfortable nights. When we informed reception of the temperature they apologised but not very convincingly and blamed the current 'heat-wave'. My next issue was with breakfast - very poor quality and the staff were miserable and rude, barely recognising guests entering the room. The juice was just nasty and the bread cheap sliced rubbish. Don't waste money paying extra for breakfast - a short walk down the high street is the Chocolate Fairy cafe - excellent food and not over priced.
On the plus side the rooms and bathrooms are very big and probably quite nice if you have an outside room. The gym is good and the pool looked nice. There is also limited free parking under the hotel. The hotel is in a great location on the prom.
