This was our third stay on the Isle of Man and the Sefton Hotel it is a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. On arrival the receptionist had us checked in quickly. The Atrium room was fantastic ! tea and coffee available, chilled water in the fridge. The Sir Norman Wisdom bar is fine for a drink and pub food if that’s what you want however we ate at the Gallery Restaurant in the hotel and the food, service and quality was excellent, it was well presented and the Maitre d’ made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The hotel is well placed for visits to the centre of Douglas and there is a bus stop literally outside the hotel which is handy for busses to the North side of the island (Laxey etc). Another great stay and well done Sefton (again).

Booked the weekend special deal of dinner bed and breakfast advertised at £99 however no rooms available at this rate and had to pay £119 as it was a special occasion for my mum and dad I paid an extra £10 for a deluxe atrium room unfortunatley this room had a leak in the roof on the balacony and the floor was damaged as a result on informing the receptionist the response was just oh I thought that had been fixed no apology ! On the first night dinner was served in the 2AA rosette gallery restaraunt there was a three course set menu with various options or for a small surplus you could choose from the a la carte menu the food was amazing, however on the second evening we were informed that the gallery restaraunt is closed on a sunday and we would have to eat in Sir Normans bar the food was of no comparison basic pub grub and to add insult to injury you were told you had a budget of £19,95 which meant you could only have two courses before going over budget so instead of a fine dining three course meal you got a 2 course pub meal although the price of the dinner bed and breakfast deal was still the same. If booking again I would not take the deal on a Sunday

I am not sure what decade the 4 star rating was given to the Sefton, but it is out-dated, dingy, tired, and filthy in appearance... The musty smell is every where... Booked an ocean view room, but can't see through the dirty windows.... Was afraid to sit in the sitting area in front of the windows to enjoy the view as not sure if the chair was going to get up and move (it looked decrepit, over used and unclean).. However, the English Breakfast was well worth it !!!!! Definitely include the breakfast with your stay... Skip Norman's restaurant inside the hotel.. First time in Isle of Man and will check out some of the other hotels.

Room Tip: Ok rooms if your not going to spend a lot of time in it, close to city center, 5 min walk to Ferry T...

Staying at this good quality hotel for 3 nights for a family wedding .we had a good size spotless room with a good comfy bed, clean sheets ,fluffy white towels and always hot water in a spacious bathroom.good supply of tea and biscuites our room, had a balcony that overlooked the stunning atrium.breakfast was of a good standard with the usual choices, and a special breakfast menu.the staff from book in to all service areas were well trained polite and customer service was outstanding, special mention for Daniel on reception nothing was too much trouble for him.The family wedding and evening party at this hotel was fantastic.we will definitely return to this lovely hotel.just a couple of things the rooms were very warm and maybe the shower curtain could be a little longer.

Recently had sunday lunch at the Sefton. Superb. Start with a glass of bubbles then a buffet choice for starter, main and pudding. Listening to wonderful live music.

Food is served buffet style in the beautiful attrium. Wide range of options - salads, seafood, pates and cold meats in addition to the roast meats and vegetables. If you wanted soup or hot fish this was available from the kitchen. I was advised by my husband that it was one of the best roast beefs he had had in a long time. (I had the fish).

The option of having salads and cold meats meant you did not have to have the roast and all its trimmings - leaving space for one or more of the dozen choices of sweet.

Good food, good service. Greta place

Room Tip: Did not stay on this occassion. But previously opted for atrium room, quieter at night and feeling...

Well dodgy goings on here. Visited in March and was told that pool was being refurbished. Was also told this in December 2012, October 2012, June 2012, March 2012, February 2012, December 2011, October 2011 and August 2011. There will now follow a feeble excuse why customers were being mislead.

Not sure what makes this 4****. Perhaps its the quality of other surrounding hotels or perhaps 1 owner has got a strangle hold which would be broken on mainland.

Four of us ate here on a fairly busy Monday evening in Sir Norman Wisdom's bar and restaurant.
We had been intrigued and delighted by a bronze of the eponymous comedian on the bench outside the hotel. The two men in our party of four had prawn cocktail and home made soup whilst our wives shared a plate of bread and dips. I must say that I am not generally a fan of Beef and Guinness pie because almost always the pastry wins over the contents but in this case large pies contained substantial amounts of delicious manx beef. My wife made up the mains with a homemade lasagne. Drinks consisted of two glasses of Okells bitter as the guest ale and 1/2 Guinness and 1/2 Carling shandy for the ladies. The meal was well complemented by a great value Vicuna Merlot from Chile a superb house wine priced at £12.55. Because of the big portions no one had a pudding and the bill for four amounted to £75.60 before optional service.

Thank you for submitting a review following your meal at Sir Norman's. We are pleased you enjoyed our food and found your meal good value for money. We do try and source as much of our produce as we can from the local market and the manx beef is as you say delicious.
