We booked after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. This is a really good hotel. Reception were polite and efficient. The room was superb - spacious, very clean and, like most rooms in the hotel with an inward looking balcony over the internal atrium. The internal Atrium is a great feature (although used for lots of receptions and potentially therefore noisy). Our room was so nice that one evening (we stayed three nights) we ate in and had room service on our balcony. The bathroom also quite spacious, modern and clean with a separate shower as well as a good bath. The breakfasts (with views out to sea) were very good with a wide choice including cooked to order specials. The hotel also has a pool and some other facilities – but we were not there long enough to try these, but they looked very fine.
The hotel is very well situated, right at the end of the main shopping street and right on the sea front. There are very pleasant walks from the hotel in both directions. A really good (and moderately priced) Italian restaurant, Alesandros is only 10 minutes walk away (we found eating in Douglas a bit of a challenge – the hotel has a good restaurant, but very pricey; bar food better value, but not too exciting). Access to all local public transport is easy and the reception staff very helpful with directions. National Museum only a five minute walk. If you arrive by ferry its only a 10 minute walk.
Not quite perfect though. Parking is a bit of a problem (the hotel has a secure but smallish car park and there is some street parking, but not quite enough). The bar (named after Norman Wisdom) is quite noisy - as are the seagulls - but book a sea front hotel and this has to be expected! Our bed was not very comfortable - but that might just be us!
All in all this is a very nice hotel at a fairly reasonable price (we paid just under £100 per night B&B). If you want to stay in Douglas (best place on Man to stay) you would have to be lucky to find somewhere better
