Stayed here several times during past 3 years. Good location on the sea front but the hotel is looking a little tierd. Facilities are acceptable but nothing to get excited about. Average age of the guests seemed to be 60+, which is fairly typical for Isle of Man. I would stay again but I only use the hotel to get some sleep before heading back to the office.

Great location and very good, attentive staff. We ate in The Gallery restaurant and had an excellent meal.
The room was very good, plenty of room and lovely views over the bay. The only down side was being directly above the entrance to the Bar it was a bit noisy when late night revellers were going home!

Stayed there for a wedding recently, lovely hotel, great location, really interesting idea with the indoor balcony area but the best thing about it by mikes was the staff, friendly, helpful and kept our large family very happy. My young cousin fell, hurt herself and the bar staff bought the hotel teddy mascot to give her. Really couldn't thank them enough.

This hotel is situated on the promenade in Douglas very close to the theatre and ice cream place.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and assisted with an early breakfast for a group of us beyond what was usually available. I had a sea view room which was in keeping with the era of the hotel but had a modern bathroom and very good shower. The room was very clean and had everything you would need for a short stay. The bar food was very convenient and nice.

We have just eaten at the gallery restaurant and the quality of the service and the food is going down hill fast. We had three different beef fillet dishes and all of them were tough. One vegetarian dish which was in edible. Such a shame as this has always been our number one choice for celebrations but will look for somewhere else in the future.
Such a shame as we loved this restaurant.

We paid £130 for our atrium room which is billed as a "luxury room". It is some time since you could have said it bore any resemblance to luxury - but to be positive, it was clean,& had most of the things we wanted. I expected a hairdryer, but a call to reception resulted in a small hairdryer being dropped off for me. The sink in the room (473) was cracked and we were disappointed that the shower had a curtain, instead of a cubicle. The atrium has seen better days and I think if the manager went up to the 4th floor and took an aerial view of the area he would see that it is quite shabby looking. Also they serve breakfast for some guests in that area and our sleep was disturbed at 0730 one morning as the staff set up and then served bacon baps to the guests. On the plus side there is a very useful car park under the hotel as parking can be difficult in Douglas, and our breakfast was plentiful and good. The staff were really helpful and the position on the promenade is excellent. So all in all we had a good holiday but I think we expected more from the price we paid for B & B.

Room Tip: The lower rooms in the atrium could be noisy when there is a reception or conference and food is ser...

OK so the hotel is in need of a referb in places but modernisation would ruin its Victorian charm although there is a wonderful Atrium behind which is out of site from the front.
We had a 3rd floor sea view - reasonable room large bathroom bath and separate shower - comfortable bed and the food is good compliments to Carol the chef. Sir Norman is a nice bar with tv screens for the world cup and framed posters of the theatres and cinemas of the past in Douglas. So where else would the moaners stay? Best Western Palace ex Hilton and the now closed but wonderful Castle Mona our old favourite both of which I think the Sefton now own.
For those critics who think the Travelodge is what it's all about as standards go then get real and enjoy some character with the Gaiety and Marina next door and centrally placed this is the Isle of Man enjoy the fact they don't like change here and go see for yourself !!!

Room Tip: Pay the extra and go for a sea view room you will regret it if you don't
