Pretty reasonable all round without anything really standing out. The rooms well clean and of the quality expected for this price of hotel without exceeding expectations. Breakfast was reasonable but the room was very open plan and lacked character whilst the bar meal I had in the evening was fairly priced but not outstanding.

Lovely hotel right on the seafront, middle of bay and right at the end of the main shopping precinct. Staff were brilliant, the hotel was very clean and well maintained. We ate at both the Gallery, and the Sir Norman both meals were lovely. As for breakfast also excellent every day we stayed for a week 16th-23rd July

When you walk through the doors of the Sefton you know you are entering a hotel whose heyday could probably be considered to be about a hundred years ago, there is a certain style that has never left it. There a some areas that seem a little tired but on the whole, the hotel is in fine order; the room I was in was on the second floor overlooking the seafront and was clean, updated and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a shower and a bath and was bright and very clean. There is a raised seating adn dining area within the room and when the curtain are closed, this area is cut off from the bedroom space by the curtains which is novel and which i liked. The room , bieng on the fromt, was slightly noisy, on a Friday night, but its not as if the bars were open until dawn, i was able to get more than enough, undisturbed sleep. My stay on the isole of man was , sadly, only brief but if I were to come back, I would eb booking a room at the Sefton and as such am happy to recommend.

Room Tip: Don't be put off by fears of late-night noise if you have a sea-front room, its the Isle of Man...

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review following your stay with us. We are very pleased you found your room clean and comfortable. The Sefton first opened its doors in 1892 and whilst your traditional Victorian build from the outside, has undergone major refurbishment over the years ....as you say it does have a "certain style that has never left it". Thank you for chosing to stay at the Sefton and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Our first time in the Isle of Man and therefore at The Sefton Hotel. After making our booking we did read a lot of the previous reviews but decided we would still go and see for ourselves as it seemed the comments ranged from good to bad and back again. First impression on arrival – a typical Victorian building that does need some refurbishment and maintenance. On arrival we found the welcome at reception very friendly and has we had suffered damage to one of our suitcases in transit, the receptionist Samantha was very sympathetic and helpful in advising us where we could buy a replacement for our journey home the following Saturday. The hotel also disposed of our damaged suitcase for us. This helpful, friendly attitude was a taste of what was to come from all the hotel staff during our stay.
Check in was prompt and friendly and our seaview room was clean and comfortable but was showing its need for a bit of TLC but as we were only there for a week it was fine. We ate in The Gallery on four nights and this is the jewel in the Sefton in our opinion. The restaurant manager and his staff were polite, friendly and professional and the food was very good both in quality and presentation – the fillet steak we had on our last night was exceptionally good! The prices we felt were good for an a la carte 4 star restaurant. We also ate for two nights in Sir Normans which offered good pub-type food and good service. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of choice. The Atrium is a very nice area within the hotel and quite unique.
The Sefton is not a Premier/Travelodge type hotel in any shape or form so if that is what you like or want then don’t go to The Sefton, but if you like old fashioned Victorian Hotels and can appreciate that the building is over 100 years old and perhaps showing its age but the staff are young, friendly and helpful, then consider this hotel.

Room Tip: A sea view with opening windows

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and for your fair and balanced feedback. The hotel as you say is a typical Victorian building - it actually first opened its doors in 1892 and as a result does have a few "quirks" which makes it far from your typical Premier/Travelodge type hotel as you state. Thank you for your comments regarding our staff and our food - such feedback is always appreciated and we will of course ensure your review is forwarded to all staff concerned. We trust you enjoyed your first visit to the Isle of Man and we hope you will visit us again in the future.

Stayed here several times during past 3 years. Good location on the sea front but the hotel is looking a little tierd. Facilities are acceptable but nothing to get excited about. Average age of the guests seemed to be 60+, which is fairly typical for Isle of Man. I would stay again but I only use the hotel to get some sleep before heading back to the office.

Great location and very good, attentive staff. We ate in The Gallery restaurant and had an excellent meal.
The room was very good, plenty of room and lovely views over the bay. The only down side was being directly above the entrance to the Bar it was a bit noisy when late night revellers were going home!

Stayed there for a wedding recently, lovely hotel, great location, really interesting idea with the indoor balcony area but the best thing about it by mikes was the staff, friendly, helpful and kept our large family very happy. My young cousin fell, hurt herself and the bar staff bought the hotel teddy mascot to give her. Really couldn't thank them enough.
