“An excellent facility for the disabled”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2011

My partner and I both have MS and the facility met our needs exactly. We came over for the Manx Grand Prix and we were very impressed at the viewing area which was easy to access by stairs or lift.. The facility has excellent equipment , ease of access and adjustable beds for most stages of disability. The level of finish and even adjustable height sink in the kitchen made it a pleasure to stay in.

Room Tip: The upstairs room has the best room for a view if coming for the motorcycle racing, but the balcony...

From a disabled persons point of view, the Joey Dunlop Foundation is a wonderful set up, everything you would want. A rare find! Affordable, fully equiped accommodation for people with all disabilities. Friendly, helpful staff (Kevin). Stayed for 1 week with 6 family members aged from 6 to 70. We all thought that this was an excellent place to stay so can confidently recommend it to all.

I brought a group of my pupils here at the beginning of July. I am originally from the island but now teach at a special school in Worcestershire. I had been planning this trip for a while but wanted to wait for suitable accommodation, and therefore got us booked in as soon as the JDF Holiday Home was complete. It far exceeded all our expectations - it had everything you could possible need, in addition to an onsite manager who was extremely welcoming and helpful! They literally 'covered everything' when getting this accommodation ready, and I simply can't fault it! One of my colleagues has helped staff a high number of residential trips during her many years at the school, and claims it to be the best disability accessible accommodation she has ever stayed at! Thank you for the most wonderful stay for my pupils and staff! We look forward to coming back again soon!

We travelled on this occasion as a family of 4 with our severely disabled daughter. The access was good - once we found the drive in and the beds and hoist did all that was needed. The wet room (shower) was just brilliant as we could shower our daughter off leaving her in the sling but clearly it would cater for most other disabilities. We took a tricycle with a w/c on the front and the JDF staff were able to get us a key so we could cycle through to the west coast on the railway line.
Thanks for all the thought and hard work that has gone into this accomodation

Room Tip: all the accomodation is to the same standard

At last, after years of searching for suitable accommodation we have found a place far above our expectations for all requirements for any disabilities. Not only is it a brilliant environment but views and comfort could not be bettered. I will not hesitate to return again, in fact we are already planning another visit.

Room Tip: Book early.

Recently stayed in the 3 bed apartment on the top floor of this superb building with my Husband, who has recently had a stroke, our Daughter and hubby's sister, The facilities are superb, everything has been so well designed that nothing was lacking. The beds are adjustable, as is the chair in the lounge area, adjustable sink in the kitchen, pull down shelves in the kitchen. 2 fab wet rooms, toilet facilities for amputees [ if needed ]. Pressure sore mattress, which we needed, available on request, no extra charge. Balcony at front of building and decked area at rear of building, all used by us. Staff on hand most of the day if any problems. !st time to Isle of Man, good times, we will be back.
Steam Packet sorted all the ferries out for us, so easy to travel to this House from our home in North Wales.
Congratulations on a superb facility.
