“Always Welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013

My annual visit to the TT Races has me eating here each evening over a two week period, solo or with groups of friends.

I have eaten here for a number of consecutive years and am pleased to be known by the managers Keith and Miguel who almost know what I will be having...
It is an open buffet style of restaurant where you can get what you want as much as you want,,..
Starters are soups or fill-a-plate with sea food or various meats, salads and trimmings.

The main part of the menu gives you a wide choice of meats presented in different tempting ways. The braised beef is one of my favourites but any meat, animal or bird is perfectly cooked and sometimes I am naughty and beg for a bit more. A number of different vegetables are available...A good selection of wines including quality house wines can be ordered.

The desserts are unbelievable, nicely presented and now that I am home I will have to go on a diet. At the end, a bottomless cup of coffee with minty chocolates-------

Cost of meal is set by the number of courses you attempt and not based on how much you eat.
I love it and have taken many people there for their evening meal.
Very good --thanks again Keith and Miguel you looked after us all very well....

The windows of the Paragon look over the whole of Douglas Bay and it is a lovely view !!

“Paragon Restaurant Douglas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2013

The Paragon Restaurant is located in the Palace Hotel which is situated on the Promenade Douglas. The restaurant has views over the Promenade to the sea with views to the Harbour The menu allows for al a carte or a selection of hot or cold food from the table. The fish selection for the Starter is well worth having. The Hotel has a standard price for the table selection based upon two or three courses both prices being very good value for money. The staff are very helpful and obliging . ..

This is our fall-back restaurant of choice when we go to the neighbouring cinema. There are probably better places to eat but this is easy parking and the Paragon opens early enough to eat before seeing an evening film. The buffet has changed a bit in the last couple of years on all three recent visits the smoked salmon was missing from the help-yourself starters. I always have the salad starter (not the soup) there is usually potato/pasta/rice salad, some shellfish (I never touch) and the usual coleslaw/ lettuce/ tomato plus sliced cold ham/ turkey/ beef/salami so enough to choose from really I just miss the smoked salmon. Mains always include 2 roast meats which the chef carves and serves or a casserole/hotpot (easy to keep warm for a long time type dish) and a vegetarian option you can order to come from the kitchen and a fish dish too. Large selection of desserts which, sadly I never touch. Previously you could elect to only pay for the two courses you wanted but recently its £19.95 for 3 courses even if you don't have dessert (and no free coffee substitute either). I think we'll go a bit less often now. On the plus side always great staff and good service and nice views.

Paragon does an excellent buffet on a Sunday, with a fantastic choice of meats, salads and hot dishes. Be warned though, you will probably not have room for pudding, even though they serve a great selection of desserts and cheeses.

The carvery here is excellent and the staff are very good and helpful. There is also an al-la-carte menue for those who don't want the carvery. It also has an excellent view of Douglas & Onchan Heads, from the large picture windows.
