Description: Portofino was opened at 18:15 on the 19th November 2010, as the Island's most prestigious Mediterranean and International restaurant. Dominating the Quay West development, centrally located in the Isle of Man's capital Douglas, Portofino enjoys spectacular views overlooking the marina, with activity of the street outside, visible through floor to ceiling windows. The grill, fish, poultry, meat and vegetables are prepared in full view of diners at the surrounding kitchen. During summer, outside tables are available for dinning. Portafino's interior was designed by Sicilian owner Mario Ciapelli. Its interior is complemented by high-back leather chairs, a modern cocktail serving bar and contemporary lighting throughout to provide a luxury and modern yet comfortable enviroment for diners. The restaurant also provides diners with the option to book the Xander Suite, a private dining room which can accommodate up to 30 guests.

Wow what can I say really! The place is gorgeous, the staff are fantastic and the food is simply amazing. A lovely posh restaurant, pricey but worth it! A lovely meal out for a special event.

Not too far from 14 North, this restaurant also has a view of the harbour but is bigger and probably a little 'louder' than 14 North.

However, catering for a large group (we more or less had the restaurant to ourselves due to a business function) the staff were great and the food was good.

I'd be interested to try this venue on a quieter night, but would definitely eat here again if visiting Douglas.

This is pricey, for me, but for a special occasion the melt in your mouth Manx beef fillet is worth every penny. Amazing.

I was expecting great things. The reality was rather surly off hand staff, a main course delivered 1 minute after we finished our starters, a distinctly average meal, scallops over spiced, steak over cooked and a long wait for the bill which we had to ask for twice. The bill came to £140 for three people for three courses with no alcohol! Outrageous price for average food with no atmosphere in the restaurant. Deeply disappointing.

I've had some great food here but also fairly average food but for high prices I would expect more consistency. Similarly the service is not consistent and can be good or poor. A great location with views over the harbour and a contemporary finish inside - on a good night it's well worth a visit but needs to be consistent.
