Visited this on a rainy day - glad we did. Gives a good overview of the island and its history with lots of interesting exhibits. Plan at least a couple of hours!

An excellent museum. Very well resourced with lots of things to see - you could easily spend half a day there. Currently a large area covering World War 1 and its impact on the Island. Recommended. Free entry too!

Brilliant museum and well worth a visit. If you don't want to avoid the long walk up a steep hill to access it from Douglas promenade us the lift in the car park next to May &Co on Market Street behind the shops. take the lift to 8th floor and the short pedestrian walkway is signposted from there. Very clean, bright, welcoming, informative and interesting museum where you could easily spend 3 hours or more looking around. Very imaginative and evocative exhibits on the development of tourism in IOM shut I would have liked more on the importance of motorcycle racing to IOM although Joey Dunlop's and Carl Fogarty's bikes were worth seeing. The current WW1 exhibition is very moving and so interesting with lots of artefacts and personal stories. It's a well thought out and beautifully arranged exhibition and worth a visit just to see this. What a pity it won't be kept on for the full duration of the war as so much thought and cafe has gone into it. All in all the Manx museum is a must for both locals and visitors.

We loved how the museum was set out especially the tactile room full of artefacts that I would have been familiar with in my youth. We spend two separate visits there and still didn't see everything but did end our visit with a great cup of Isle of Man Tea and Cake in the very comfortable tea room.
