“Super hotel, did exactly what we wanted”
Reviewed 17 April 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights recently for our anniversary and loved this hotel. The deluxe room was well appointed, clean, big bed, big bath, fridge, lots of storage, and a LCD tv. Owners were attentive and friendly, and helped out with any queries. Location seemed a bit of a walk to main nightlife, but is on the front and around a few other hotels. Parking on the street around the hotel is a challenge though, prepare for a short walk!

Breakfast was lovely with good service, though on our final day it was busy so it all seemed to go to pot as it took 3 attempts to get my partners order right, and even then the eggs were fried and not the poached asked for!

Overall, it was exactly what we were after and were delighted with our stay! Would recommend to anyone wanting a stay in Douglas.

Once again we were back at the Wellbeck this time for my daughters wedding on the island. We all met for pre night wedding drinks to meet and greet the family and friends.
We had a lovely evening meal. Saturday was the wedding so it was fall into the comfy beds that night!!. Sunday breakfast and Sunday roast was superb. The chef can certainly cook a mean bit of sirloin. Afternoon drinks with the family and a walk along the prom.
Monday back to the UK. Michael and Irene are a lovely couple and we appreciate their kindness. We are very well looked after in their establishment. There was a little hiccup whereupon the bride and groom were given a twin bed room but hey ho they survived !.

Stayed just for one night on business. Hotel was almost empty of other guests. Check in was quick but they had the room type wrong when we got to the room. Back to reception and we were upgraded to a two room apartment with a kitchen. Think it had just been refurbed because was lovely, well furnished and smelled of new carpet plus a dvd player, music system and big flat screen tv. Beds were great but had a gas boiler in a cupboard in one of the bedrooms which made some noise and was a little nervous about the possibility of Co2 leaks so slept with the window a open. The soundproofing could also be improved as we heard noise from the other few residents above. Prices in the restaurant were quite high. Could have had an early breakfast but did'nt sure it would have been lovely.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your review. All feedback is welcomed even if occasionally it is not quite as positive as we would like and we do of course apologise that WWtravalla didn't receive what they had requested first time.

The apartment/suites all contain their own heating boilers so that our guests can set the central heating for when they require it. They have been recently serviced by a Gas Safe engineer.

Having travelled in the UK on many occasions, we do not feel that £86.00(BB double occupancy low season) is at all expensive for the standard of rooms that we offer at the Welbeck and have stayed in far worse for more money.

Likewise, we also do not view £22.00 (£20.00 for vegetarians) as costly for a three course meal including coffee. Should someone have a fillet steak, the cost would increase to £26.00 but there are restaurants on the Island which would charge that for the only the steak.

Guests do not have to have the full table d'hote menu as each course is also priced individually and bar meals are offered as a cheaper alternative to the Restaurant.

I have stayed in many seaside hotels over the years, this is quite simply the best! Parking is available free of charge on the hill above the hotel just steps away. A typical looking seaside hotel from the outside, a spotlessly clean and well run establishment inside. The rooms were large, the beds were comfortable. The management and staff were pleasant, always on hand to help and always had a smile! The food was exactly as it should be, old favourites presented perfectly and so tasty too! I would return to this hotel without hesitation, in fact I could live there!!

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you're at home with friends. Mike and Irene and all the staff always make you feel welcome and do their best to make sure everything is just right.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed. There's free wi-fi throughout the hotel and the rooms all have fridges as well as TVs and a kettle so it's ideal for both work and play.

The bar is a great place to meet up at the end of the day and share your stories of where you've been and what you've seen and then you can move on to the restaurant with an excellent selection of food for a memorable three course meal. There's also a good selection of sensibly priced wines to accompany your dinner.

Talking of the restaurant, breakfast is just as impressive with everything from fresh juice, tea and toast, cereals and fruit, kippers, through to a 'freshly cooked' (not from a buffet) full Manx Breakfast.

Just off the promenade, the Welbeck Hotel is a few hundred yards from the seafront so stays nice and quiet and allows you to go out and find what the Isle of Man has to offer and then come back and relax at the end of day. What more could you ask for, the perfect family run hotel.

Once again we enjoyed our stay at the Welbeck. The owners and staff couldn't do enough to make you feel so very welcome and comfortable. The food and service is superb, the room which we always request is so comfortable, the best nights sleep ever . We have been staying there for many years now and would never consider anywhere else . Many Thanks to them for giving us such hospitality.

We travelled as a mixed group of adults and children to the Isle of Man for a sporting competition. This was our fourth visit to The Welbeck and each time we have thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. The staff are fantastic! Very helpful, polite and friendly. On previous stays they have helped us saw our way into a locked suitcase (note to self - don't give children suitcase keys!), they have sent forgotten passports to the aiport by taxi (the room safe is great, but don't forget to empty it at the end of your stay!) and this year they provided a birthday cake for one of our party, complete with candles and a song. The rooms are all comfortable with seating areas, TV, adequate hanging space, tea/coffee, biscuits and water and good sized bathrooms. We all ate in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner times and found the menu to be interesting and the food delicious. There is a large bar/lounge which serves drinks and sandwiches throughout the day. Can't praise this place highly enough - go there!! We'll certainly be back.
