“Great attraction on Douglas Head”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

Go up the hill to Douglas Head and you cant miss it. We went on a Sunday. The two cheerful volunteers there were very helpful. When you go inside let your eyes get used to the darkness and enjoy the projected images of the surrounding landscape. The obscura is housed in a charming wooden structure and there are lovely views of Douglas Bay.

“You Must See This”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

Quite recently renovated I went to see it to bring back memories of my parents who took me here many many years ago to see Douglas via the clever multi mirrors or this Obscura-- It is fascinating watching the people wandering around the area on a flat table in front of you,.

Worth visiting to see what we had a long time before TV !!!

“Make sure it is open before to trek here”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

It was closed. There was no warning notice on the approach routes and indeed very little signage to direct visitors to its location.

“It was open....”
Reviewed 9 May 2013

The camera Obscura is a great Victorian gem unfortunately the opening hours are very limited . It's not going to set your world alight but at £2 entry it's worth every penny. Run by volunteers who were helpful and happy. Well worth the walk up the hill.

“CAMERA OBSCURA”
Reviewed 8 May 2013

This was an amazing experience and suitable for all ages - it was a wonderful invention and when you entered the obscura the 11 views were really good - although it was a little overcast when we went recently. You could also go outside and look back on the obscura and the people inside could see you. It is run by volunteers who are more than helpful and explain how this obscura came about. The small charge is more than worth it.
