We have just got back with friends from a coach holiday staying at the Hydro. We travelled with
Just go and also Alpha travel came too.We had a nice room on the top floor,it was warm & spacious large flatscreen t.v but a small bathroom could do with some tlc. The food was very good enough choice.and staff worked extremely hard to serve nearly a 100 guests in two sittings
We found all staff including the domestics to be friendly, and helpful. There was evening entertainment also good.We had days out, several places worth a visit. only one day of rain
Would stay at the Hydro Hotel Again.

Room Tip: Room at the top quiet, not sea views. Some rooms on corner of hotel do have better views.

We visited The Hydro Hotel on a walking Holiday staying 6 nights. On our arrival we were allocated our room which was that small you hit your head on the TV when entering, we then found mouldy buns behind the chair, but they changed our room which was a lot better and had a nice view of the Bay. the staff were very nice and helpful, and we are both Vegetarian and had not complaints about the food at all. Although had to send it back twice as served cold. the Hotel is in an excellent position with the bus stops just outside. It is in need of a make-over, and I was rather disappointed with the Hotel. I would not recommend it to friends, mainly due to the Bedrooms.

Room Tip: We were in room 302 which had a lovely view of the Bay including the window in the Bathroom, not an...

Hotel in ideal location overlooking promenade. Clean and comfy Victorian built hotel with good sized bedrooms en suite. Wonderful bathroom shower, lovely dining room and plenty of lounge space. Staff were always very pleasant and helpful. In house entertainment ok although it was a little biased towards Country & Western on the 2 evenings it was provided! There is a lift - otherwise quite a few steps to climb; but the meals do need walking off as the choice of menu and quality of food is excellent!! Only one quibble.....why, oh, why do they not review their 'system' of service in the dining room? - it would be ok for a dinner party but not for over a hundred guests all sitting down to eat simultaneously! It was chaotic most mornings/evenings and the staff were clearly worked far too hard unnecessarily. It was also difficult to go out for events that began at 7.30pm without missing some of the meal, as the dessert course /coffee was yet to be served ...and all this from a 6pm dinner time. (Hope this helps and doesn't sound unkind) but it does need sorting!! A good stay nevertheless - and would definitely use again.

Room Tip: You do need to ask if wanting a single room with a sea view as some tend to be at the rear of hotel...

Poor: old carpets, corridors and breakfast room need repainting, thin walls, the English breakfast.
Good: new windows, bathroom, clean room.
Probably ok for TT week at 125 pounds per night but avoid if just on holiday as there must be better.

Stayed 2 nights for TT weekend wanted 3 nights but could not get in due to demand, originaly only managed to get one night booked but cancelation allowed us the 2nd night, unfortunately booked late so could only get a double to share with my mate, however very friendly and helpfull reception staff arranged for us to have an available twin room for our first night with a swap to the double for our second night, twin had a great sea view, double not as nice but was comfy and 1000 times better than our original alternative of a tent or a park bench!!
Breakfast great (Manx Kippers for me full English for my mate both good).
Location is a 5-10 walk to town centre but nice and quite due to this, bus stop directly opposite if you don't want the walk.
Stayed at another more expensive hotel for our first night, for next years TT we will book early and try and get in the Hydro again, some freindly fellow guests chatting in the well priced bar told us they had been comming to the TT for over 10 years and stayed at the Hydro on each occasion, I can see why, it is not a Chelsea buteque hotel it is a freindly, comfortable, clean honest (does what it says on the tin) hotel that me and my mate will be very pleased to go back too for another TT weekend.
