We stayed at the Hydro for five nights at the end of June for a last minute break..
We arrived at reception and a lovely lady checked us to a lovely room on the second floor. It was very clean and comfortably furnished and had a large flat screen television. The bathroom was not huge but was fully tiled with a modern white suite and a shower over the bath. It also had a nice view of the promenade and sea.
Breakfast was really good, with lots of choice and the staff although young were very pleasant and efficient.
After having read a couple of reviews on here we wonder where they stayed because it couldn't have been at the same hotel as us. I do think that they must have been wanting a 5 star hotel for 3 star prices or seen four in a bed and been on their hands and knees looking for something to complain about.
All in all, we had a great stay and will be back again.

My husband and I have just returned from a great weekend at the Hydro. Room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the sea, breakfast was lovely and the staff were really helpfull.

At £80 per night this was great value for what we got. So glad we found the Hydro and we will return!

Picture in the room was mouldy and I mean covered, it was just a picture of mould basically, the bed was rock solid, you could hear guests next door and above/below, it was over priced at £80 a night for a very small double sea view room. You are given till 10:30am to check out however the cleaners are hovering around way before then being very loud. The cleaners were knocking on our door at 9:30, this happened twice and I had to tell them to go away.

Definitely would not recommend this place

Very disappointing

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend the first weekend of July, we booked a double and a single with sea views, when we arrived it was dark and no sea view in sight in the single room, the double wasn't much better! We then got our rooms changed, these were better but not as clean as they could be. On the Saturday night there was a wedding reception on and the guests were very noisy and our bedroom was above the entrance where the guest would stand out and smoke, the noise went on until 2am which was very frustrating when we were so tired, the bedroom also had a smell about it which wasn't pleasant, we had our window open but it never went! I wouldn't say the room was all that clean. The food wasn't too bad but I don't think then quality of food is good here.
To sum up this hotel, it's not cheap for the standard here they could do with up dating this place and a good clean and new furniture would help. The bed we had was so hard we woke up in pain! Wouldn't recommend this hotel to my friends or family.

The bedroom was really tiny but the bathroom was huge. The room had no good isolation and you could hear other guests in their rooms. Although the room was really small I felt cold because the heating was off (it was January). The WIFI is free but the signal is not good in the rooms. I can't say about the price because the company I work for, paid for it.

I've just returned from TT Practice week and spend 6 pleasant nights at the Hydro.

The Hotel is nicely located on Queens Promenade overlooking the sea front about 1 mile from Douglas Town Centre. On first impressions, the public areas look a little tired as do the stair carpets. However, the rooms are bright and very clean. Beds were quite comfortable. Large Wardrobe and Dressing Table with drawers plus flat screen TV.

The staff are all very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast is waiter service for the cooked breakfast, but buffet service for the cold part (Fruit Juice, Cereal, Fruit etc). Quality of breakfast was pretty good.

All in all, we had a good stay and I plan to stay at the Hydro again next year.
