“Geocaching Trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

We are now back from our 3 night stay at the Claremont Hotel.

Our Easyjet flight touched down early so we were in no great hurry to get to the hotel and caught the bus to Douglas. The island has an excellent bus service. The cost to town was £2.70pp.

We arrived at the Hotel at midday and although check in was not until 2pm our allocated room was ready.
We booked a Business room, which had a lovely sea view. Breakfast was included in our room rate. The room was a very good size, although first impressions were "manly". The Hotel have a turn down service with chocolate included.

The hotel staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the choice was excellent. We did not eat in the restaurant opting for an alternative location. (see our other report if you wish). We were pleased to note that the heating came on even in May!

We would highly recommend this hotel but would like to add some constructive criticism.

We were offered a complimentary newspaper which was not delivered we drew this to the attention of the front desk but it failed to turn up the following morning. It’s a small gripe but we feel don’t offer this service if its not upheld.
We were two people in the room and the complimentary toiletries were for a single occupant. Also these were not replaced on the second day.
Our room (301) had very creaky bedslats.
We would suggest a blackout blind be fitted to the main room window.

Room Tip: Watch out for the corner of the glass basins when entering and leaving the bathroom (Room 301) If y...

We arrived on the ferry and although it was not 3 p.m. and
the room we had been allocated was not ready the receptionist changed our room so we didn't have
to wait. The room was of good size, although only a view of walls out of the window. We slept well.
The downstairs of the hotel is well furnished and bright. The hotel staff were very friendly.
The breakfast was very good, well cooked and plentiful.
We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was delicious, well presented, and all the waiting
staff were very efficient and friendly.
We would recommend this hotel but would up grade to a room on the front of the building as our room 205 did not have a view at all, and were awake early with the dustbin men coming early.
It is very near the ferry terminal so is very convenient.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a room at the front of the building.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Claremont Hotel and our first trip to the Isle of Man. I booked the hotel via Easyjet and emailed them in advance to let them know the reason for our visit was to celebrate my husband's birthday and our silver wedding anniversary. On checking in, both occasions were warmly acknowledged by Anthony. Our room was simply stunning (I suspect we were upgraded), overlooking the sea on the 3rd floor. The room was spacious with a large bed and very comfortable mattress and finished to a high spec with some nice extras such as an ipod docking station and a blue ray dvd player. The bathroom was to die for - Jack & Jill sinks, separate shower area with 2 shower heads and bath. The biggest plus is the staff. They all were superbly friendly and helpful and all very passionate about the island and wanting us to enjoy our experiences. We cannot thank the staff enough for their service and will definitely stay again when we return to the Island.

From the outside it looks like an ordinary Hotel but you will be very positively surprised when you enter. You will see a modern and well designed Hotel with excellent service. All staff were friendly and service minded. For sure the Hotel on Isle of Man to go to

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Claremont.
Pros:
- good service, very pleasant & helpful staff
- lovely breakfast with lots of options and well cooked (although poached eggs could have been better)
- downstairs very well re-modelled & spotlessly clean
- free wifi all over the hotel.

Cons:
- Bedrooms are over priced (we paid £100 per night for a standard double with view of air vents (room 105));
- Bathroom was not good. While the bedroom had been refurbished, the bathroom had not; really out of date fixtures and fittings (i.e. cracked tiles, generally dingy). Also, bathroom was particularly dark.
- No plug socket near a large mirror - very difficult to blow dry hair as a result.
- No hotel information or locality information in the room e.g. when breakfast was to be served, where to go, room service info etc.

Generally, an average hotel in a good location with lovely staff, but bedrooms/bathrooms let the hotel down.

Room Tip: Don't stay in any room ending in 5, they appear to all look out over an air vent (we were also s...

We stayed at the Claremont for two nights, and thought it was a very good hotel. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, all of them! Very clean and well kept. We had a seaview room, which was really nice - spotlessly clean, well equipped and maintained. Loved the huge bed! The bathroom was bigger than many hotel rooms we have had! Breakfast was very good, and dinner was, too. If we were ever going back to the IOM, we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room.
