The Hotel is situated in a central position on the sea front and was excellent as were the Manager and Staff.

Stayed in a sea view room with two young children in a damp August.
The owner Mr Cilliers couldn't have been more helpful, from the welcoming drink on arrival, sitting with us to discuss places to visit and to eat, sorting out emergency bed change (and cuddly toy) when my daughter was sick, even loan of videos to watch in the room. The holiday could have been much harder without him.
The breakfasts are great too - varieties of cereal, porridge, fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt, toast and full cooked made the mornings something to look forward to!
The room was always clean, and the view was spectacular. At night the lights come on along the prom and it looks beautiful, even in the rain! I left a curtain open and fell asleep watching the lighthouse at the harbour.
On the downside, it's a long walk from the harbour - about two thirds of the way along the prom, which took us about 45 minutes, with our three year old pulling her own case - so if you're a foot passenger, get a taxi or horse tram.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Silvercraigs. The rooms are very spacious and clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and quiet. The hotel has a lovely view of the beach and promenade. I am looking forward to returning again in spring time.

If you want a clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay-then this is definitely the place to stay.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the owner who offered a complimentary beer then proceeded to give us invaluable information about the Isle of Man-what to do; where to go; where to eat out... An absolute gentleman whose business desreves to do really well.

The room was spotless and the view amazing-overlooking the stunning coastline and Douglas Promenade with its unique Horse Trams... only £2 to go along the promenade-a good 30-40 minute walk by foot.

The ensuite is on the small side but possesses everything any seasoned traveller requires-excellent shower, sink and toilet.

The breakfast provided is fabulous-a full English or the healthier Continental option-again the service is excellent-warm and friendly. The general ambience is very relaxed and it isn't long before other guests exchange their experiences... again all very helpful.

10/10

During a recent stay at Silvercraigs with friends who recommended the hotel, arrival was welcoming with complimentary drinks as stated. We were shown the rooms which were cleaned thoroughly prior to arrival but did have a musty damp smell, especially the drawers and wardrobes. We did mention to the staff member that the room smelt but we got no response.
The following day whilst other guests were having breakfast there was a leak through the ceiling into the dining room, the guests in that room were asked not to use the shower for a while so that it could be fixed. This was done by a member of staff who seemed to have many job descriptions, although that is not a crime he appeared to be rushed off his feet, although always very polite. The problem was that the best time for a shower would be afternoon or early evening when guests would not be frequenting the dining room, but, there was no hot water, or clean towels. Management were approached and they said that the water was on a thermostat and it probably would not reach the room whilst about 4-45pm, because the water did not come on til 4pm. This however was too late as arrangements had been made to meet family members in the Isle of Man.
The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis by the same young chap mentioned earlier, but usually at around the time you were coming in after been out 6 or 7 hours, which we found awkward.
The complimentary milk cartons were only changed twice in a five day period.
The shower ceilings were covered with damp, and other guests were talking in the dining room about guests who had let their shower run over causing it to rain down on their breakfast and how awful it was. We found this rather embarassing and did approach the guests in question. They then told us that an Elderly Gentleman was leaving early one morning with his grandson to catch a flight and he was refused any breakfast and they thought this was appalling. We asked for coffee on the day we were departing and were told that the staff had not yet arrived and we would get one on the ferry.
There are good and bad points to all the above. The staff are always very accommodating, very helpful, but we feel that Management (of any business) is the key, and staff can only do what they are trained, or told to do. The Manager was told of the problems in relation to the stay, but having read his reply to one of the reviews, we don't feel that alternatives were offered like he suggested, especially with the Elderly Gentleman. As for us, yes we could have bought coffee on the ferry, but when you pay for bed & breakfast, thats what you would normally expect. So, would we stay there again? Well I realise that the staff have "so much to do" as pointed out to me by Management, but, I'm sure all the guest houses, hotels and B&B have the same demands as Silvercraigs no matter how big or small, but surely customer satisfaction is the most important thing here if you want your business to thrive and survive, so to be totally honest, although I did find fault, I would only stay again if, the things that were wrong during our stay were rectified and changes made to ensure that Elderly folk were given much more consideration. Having said all that I do appreciate that any business can have breakdowns etc but it is how it is rectified that is important. The Manager and his staff are always very polite, and come across as very keen to oblige, we personally feel that it would be great if the Manager was "around" more to deal with issues as they arise. We don't mean 24/7 but, out there more.
The Breakfast however did look good, Ive got to be honest and say my friends really enjoyed it.
