Having spent a weekend in The Devonian last year we returned for 7 days and we received a very warm welcome from Kevin, Gillian and their staff. The rooms were again very clean and comfortable with all the equipment needed i.e. TV,hairdryer, radio alarm, tea & coffee making facilities. The rooms are serviced daily with an ample supply of towels. The breakfast choice is outstanding and comparable to a 4/ 5 star hotel. However the personal attention to your particular requirements goes much higher than that of a 4/5 star hotel. We would like to thank everyone at The Devonian for making our second trip to The Isle of Man just as pleasurable as our first. We wish you all the best for the future.

This is a good value Guest House which provided a nice clean room, with an excellent varied range of dishes for breakfast, served in a pleasant dining room by polite and attentive staff. Our only reservations were the location at an intersection of where "the creatures of the night" wandered on their wobbly and noisy way home in the early hours of the morning. Perhaps a room at the rear would not suffer from this but at the cost of a sea view, and this clearly is no fault of the establishment and could happen anywhere on the sea front. Also I agree with a previous reviewer about the shower plastic curtain which would be better replaced with a sliding screen arrangement. The couple that run the hotel and their staff were an example of very good customer service.

This was our 2nd stay at the Devonian for the TT practice week, this time we brought our 3 teenage sons & stayed in the large studio room. As usual the room, the decor, the cleanliness, the breakfasts were fantastic, i can highly recommend the Full English & my sons the pancakes (sweet toothes). Unlike other establishments on the Island the breakfasts are freshly cooked to order & not kept warm or reheated. Breakfasts are served quickly, fresh & piping hot, with excellent service !
Such a warm, friendly place & that includes Gillian, Kevin & guests.
Thanks again Gillian & Kevin, & Yes we will be back again next year, same time, same place !

We had booked 2 nights at The Devonian during practice week of the TT. On arrival we stood on the door step for a while as no-one was around to let us in. When we eventually got to our room it was very small but clean and pretty much what we had expected. As it was practice week we expected it to be busy and noisy but we had expected other guests to have consideration for others. The noisy self closing mechanisms slammed the doors shut which the next door room did every 20 minutes until 1.30 in the morning, making the walls shake. When they eventually came in and stayed in, they had the loudest conversation until 3am and then after that the snoring started. The walls must be really thin, you could even hear the bike leathers creaking on every stomp across the landing. Luckily we were able to use the free WiFi to find another hotel with availability online!

When morning eventually came at least the water was hot for a shower, just a shame it was so small that the shower curtain clung to your body and there wasn't room to move!

Breakfast was massive but not great quality, tinned mushrooms etc and really weak coffee. We complained to the owners in the morning about the noise and they were happy to say something to the quests which we didn't want to do. However they didn't seem overly concerned and said 'well it is TT week!'

We paid £70 for a double room - not good value for money. We had our next night in The Empress on the sea front and only paid £15 extra and had a massive room with king size bed, considerate bikers/guests and a much better quality breakfast.

Not impressed - go to The Empress!

We stayed here for three nights last summer. It offers very comfortable accommodation and excellent breakfast. Easy to find and within walking distance of the town centre. Our room was quiet, very fresh and clean and tastefully decorated. It had a good tv , tea/coffee and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and shower good. Breakfast was hearty and had a great choice for everyone. Our hostess was very welcoming and helpful with information on where to eat, etc. Thanks to her we discovered the Warbeck Hotel Restaurant (hope name spelt correctly) nearby where we enjoyed a lovely meal and excellent value compared to the town centre itself. Very good accommodation in lovely area. Highly recommended.

We were delighted with the warm welcome and charming decor at The Devonian. Rooms were not huge, but comfortable and recently refurbished to a high standard.. The location was super, just off the main promenade and within easy walking distance of the town centre, restaurants, theatre and steam railway. Gillian and Kevin were warm and thoughtful hosts, and breakfast (cooked by Kevin) was excellent , with choices ranging from Manx Kippers to Eggs Benedict served in a bright spacious breakfast room. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Isle of Man for three days and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, which was partly due to the glorious weather we had there but also as a result of our positive stay at the Devonian. It was our first time in the Isle of Man, so we didn't really have many ideas about what to do there or how to do it!, but the friendly and helpful owners at the Devonian gave us lots of useful tips on how to make the most of our three days- thank you!

Our bedroom was very clean and well-furnished, with two big windows giving lots of light in the room and a nice view outside. It was not big but certainly big enough for us. I also appreciated the free wireless as we had brought a laptop with us. Breakfast was also impressive as there were about ten choices of cooked options (including Manx kippers which I had and were delicious), as well as a small continental selection and juices.

The only reason I did not give this guest house five stars is because the room was too cold on the second night, and so I found it difficult to sleep that night. I could not get the radiator to work and assume it must have been switched off as it was not winter anymore. But overall a pleasant stay and we will hopefully be coming back!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are said to be the best.
