Discover life sized reconstructions of Celtic roundhouses, join the crew of the Odin’s Raven on a Viking longship as it returns from the battle of Clontarf, or find out what life was life in a Viking longhouse. You’ll also hear about the magnificent stone crosses dotted around the Island’s landscape and find out where you can still see them. Explore 19th Century Peel with a walk around the quayside, complete with traditional sights and smells from the Manx kipper yard, and uncover the importance of the sea to the lives of the people on the Isle of Man. During your journey from past to present you’ll also come face to face with characters telling you stories and superstitions from the Island’s past. An attraction not to be missed!

“excellent exhibition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

We were really impressed with the exhibition which took a couple of hours to get around. The stone-built building is in character. We were pleased they did a reciprocal agreement with the National Trust.
We have been to the Jorvik Centre in York, and think this is just as good. If your kids like Vikings, they will love this. The longboat was particularly impressive, and personally, I enjoyed the fishing bit of the exhibition.

“Great Modern Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 February 2012

This is well worth a visit with lots of very interesting things to see. There are a number of films along with great life like displays. Good wheel chair access throughout with a lift to all levels. Great display of a full size viking ship and good historical information on the isle of man. You really need to allow more than 3hrs to see and take everything in.

A must see. There are good restaurants near by and parking plus a nice walk along the harbour or visit to Peel castle.
