Owner description: Mythical sea god Manannan guides you through this interactive museum which focuses on the Isle of Man's rich Celtic, Viking and maritime past. Discover life sized reconstructions of Celtic roundhouses, join the crew of the Odin’s Raven on a Viking longship as it returns from the battle of Clontarf, or find out what life was life in a Viking longhouse. You’ll also hear about the magnificent stone crosses dotted around the Island’s landscape and find out where you can still see them. Explore 19th Century Peel with a walk around the quayside, complete with traditional sights and smells from the Manx kipper yard, and uncover the importance of the sea to the lives of the people on the Isle of Man. During your journey from past to present you’ll also come face to face with characters telling you stories and superstitions from the Island’s past. An attraction not to be missed!

I felt so sorry to see this exhibition. The biggest problem for me was that there was nothing really there except a bunch of scenarios of life in the dark ages cobbled together with awful aromatics which combined with the heat to make the whole thing claustrophobic and oppressive. It could have been so much more from the historical point of view and less dumbed down. Sorry,,,,,,,,,

Well worth a visit, interesting to see the life the old Manx people had. Plenty to see and experience. Couple it with a visit to the Castle you will not regret it.

While visiting for the racing, we nipped into Peel and on a recommendation of a resident, we visited the house.
Very pleased we did , all very good and the view from the misted windows is amazing.... Visit... It will become clear..

Whenever we have visitors to The Isle of man, we make a point of showing them the House of Manannan. It's a delightful museum on a manageable scale and has been carefully and skillfully put together to help the visitor understand the history of our island home. Exhibits have been expertly thought out to make the visit both interesting and educational. I highly recommend it to anyone with an inquisitive mind.
