This is a very interesting museum in Peel. It charts the Celtic, Viking and Maritime history of the Isle of Man. There are lots of interactive screens which tell you about the history. Also different buttons to press so you can follow how different people fit in. A Round House has been constructed and also a Viking Longboat. There are lots of other artefacts and plenty of information sheets. We unfortunately only had an hour to go round the museum which was not long enough to do it proper justice. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable

An amazing experience. I cannot describe the imaginative ways and amount of information this place imparted. Celtic, Viking and maritime past. Brilliant.

Well served by buses, parking in town. Good cafe on site with good friendly helpful staff.

A lot of thought has gone into this museum. It has been brilliantly put together and thought through. We spent a morning here going round. It really brings the early history of the Isle of Man to live. Highly recommended.

As a true born and bred Manx person I have been to this museum of sorts several times before and still marvel at the experience. Each visit is a constant reminder of our heritage..an adventure and an interesting story of the past and how the island developed. We spent several hours taking it all in..and the wonder of the Viking longboat..and the lifelike characters..all made it a very worthwhile visit..whether you are Manx or not.

Arrived too late for the main museum. The free Norman Wisdom exhibition was still open though and excellent- recommend anyone to attend.

Great place to go and learn lots about the history of the island. The whole tour can take a good few hours especially if you take the time to listen to each audio. The cafe is extremely good value for money and was the nicest and cheapest cup of coffee we had on the island .

Called in on the off chance because of the tribute room to Norman Wisdom, - my wife's favourite comedian - and just wandered in to the main exhibition by chance. What a great story about the islands history, from the very beginning right up to, almost present day, including the manx kipper industry, even to the smells and noises of kipper production.
The dragging up to the "beach" of the Viking long ship was especially well done.
The beach at Peel is also one of the nicest on the island if not THE nicest.

This is a fascinating and appealing museum, telling the history of the island, and it’s excellent value at £10. We were there three hours.
Other reviewers have given details of what’s available so I’ll just say how good it is for people with disabilities. Wheelchair accessible throughout, lifts to every floor and plenty of seating for those with tired legs. The videos all offer a transcript for people with a hearing impairment. Lovely cafe. Helpful staff. Would have liked a bit more info about the Viking boat. Especially enjoyed learning about the Viking kings, and the (separate!!) Norman Wisdom exhibition was very interesting.
A great place to visit. Free car park behind the museum too.

My husband and I had a great time visiting this interactive history museum while on our honeymoon. We took a day trip to IOM and it did not disappoint. This was a fun way to learn the history of the Isle with hands-on learning activities. I feel like children, young adults, and older adults would have a nice time here. The people running the front desk were outstanding, so friendly, and excited to give us recommendations of where else to go in and around Peel.

Just absolutely superb, we've been to the island every other year and visited house of mannanin!
One of the best things on the island.
Love it!
