“A reason to visit Peel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

If there was a couple who were made for hospitality its Nigel and Nikki.
They could make a night in Kabul seem like a trip to Disneyland.
Cleaner than clean, details to die for, breakfast for champions, fables to make Aesop redundant, genuine friendliness, welcoming and all round excellence!
The hardest thing for these guys will be keeping it up...because sitting on the top is a very hard place to maintain.
If I were ever to visit Peel again...it would be simply to go to Albany House. The place itself doesn't deserve them.

Room Tip: They're all good. There are no views to compete with so you're just booking for style and si...

Albany House was recommended to us by a friend who used to live in Peel and the recommendation was well merited. From the moment I first contacted Nikki by 'phone she went out of her way to be helpful, with a tremendously useful pack of information through the post and suggestions of other places to stay on the Isle of Man. Albany House was a real home for us during our stay, with a superbly comfortable bed and delicious breakfasts. Nigel's home-made breads were a highlight and neither Nikki nor Nigel was ever too busy to chat to us and suggest places to visit and/or eat. We're really looking forward to another visit.

We have recently returned from the IOM. We wanted somewhere central and saw the great reviews for Albany House. I can report that none of them are exaggerating. It was excellent, very clean and comfortable. We stayed in Fraser room which was lovely, the beds were very comfortable and there was a beautiful bathroom. However all the rooms seemed good. We had a perfectly cooked individual breakfast each morning, all tastes are catered for - we can recommend the kippers and also the smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Nikki and Nigel are very pleasant and we felt very relaxed. Nikki had sent some tourist literature which was very helpful to us.

Room Tip: all rooms good

My Husband and I spent a very relaxing four days at the Albany Guest House. Nikki and Nigel are the most wonderful hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble for them, from the moment you arrive to the minute you depart they show a genuine interest in all their guests and are always happy to give advice whether it be on day trips or eating places on the Island – one only has to ask. We stayed in the Yellow Room which was kept spotlessly clean and overlooked the rear garden and got the morning sun which was nice. Our six foot super king size bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in with top quality soft cotton bedding. Our room had a TV, Skybox, small Fridge, Radio Alarm Clock, Hairdryer, Tea & Coffee making facilities with a wide range of drinks, ranging from coffee, tea and sugar to chocolate drink, herbal teas and small bottles of water beside the bed. There were also biscuits and sweets and a pair of wine glasses. The double wardrobe had lots of coat hangers and adequate hanging space. There was free internet access, the wifi worked very well in our room. There was even a small needlework box containing different coloured cottons, needles and scissors for any emergency repairs.

The large en-suite bathroom in the Yellow Room contained a Bath with Shower over it and had very good quality towels. There was a vast range of toiletries ranging from Shower Gel, Shampoo, Hand Soap, Liquid Hand Wash, Body Lotion and Luxury Bath Oils. There was also a little wicker basket with extras in such as Hair Spray and Deodorant. If anyone had forgotten anything – Nikki and Nigel had already thought of it!

The Breakfast Menu was more like that of a 4 Star Hotel than a Guest House. To start with there were cereals, a selection of fresh fruits which changed daily and included Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Melon, Grapes, Pineapple & Slices of Fresh Orange plus a selection of fruit juices, yogurts, cheeses, meats, breads and croissants. The cooked breakfast consisted of any of the following:- Bacon, Mushrooms, Sausage, Veggie Sausage, Tomato, Beans, Fried Egg, Scrambled Egg, Poached Egg and Black Pudding OR a choice of Scrambled Egg on Toast, Beans on Toast, Sausage Sandwich, Poached Egg on Toast, Scrambled Egg & Smoked Salmon, Fried Eggs on Toast, Scrambled Egg & Beans, Bacon Sandwich, Boiled Egg & Soldiers or Kippers. There was also a vast selection of Marmalade and Jams. My Husband has a passion for Whiskey Marmalade but never before has he found it on the Breakfast Table like he did at the Albany Guest House! There was a choice of beverages which included Tea, Coffee, Herbal Tea, Green Tea, Decaf Tea or Coffee. For those who had to depart on an early morning boat, Nigel was happy to make a “Breakfast on the Go” with a Sandwich, Yoghurt, Fruit, Juice & Pastry.

I can honestly say I cannot think of anything that Nikki & Nigel haven’t already thought of. When you arrive at the Albany Guest House the lovely flowers in the front garden say it all in that Nikki and Nigel are very caring hosts who also take great pride in the appearance of their property. There was a Guest Lounge with a TV where guests could sit and chat to one another.

We travelled with easyJet from Gatwick to Ronaldsway and purchased a 5 Day Island Explorer Ticket on arrival at the airport. We used this everyday from Day 1 to Day 5 and were able to easily explore the whole island by public transport. The buses stop in Albany Road only a few yards from the Albany Guest House. The bus took us to Douglas, Castletown or Ramsey where we continued by either Electric Tram or Steam Train. An hourly airport bus service also stops
in Albany Road. For anyone who is a National Trust member in the UK one can have free admission to the Manx National Heritage sites as they have a reciprocal arrangement for UK National Trust visitors on production of their NT Card. As NT members ourselves we visited Peel Castle, the Laxey Wheel and Rushen Abbey.

Finally, a very big THANK YOU to Nikki and Nigel. We hope to visit you again.

This was our first trip to the island and we are already looking forward to our next one.
My wife and I loved every minute of our stay and we were made to feel welcome wherever we went. We chose Albany House in Peel as it sounded nice and we tend to prefer smaller places, we were not disappointed. Nikki and Nigel the owners were really friendly and very helpful. The B & B was lovely and our room was bright, airy and spotless. We got to meet Ralphy and Coco their two dogs. The front garden is a mass of flowers. The breakfasts were excellent with a great choice of fresh fruit, juices and cereal, with a choice of hot and cold options to follow, my own favourite being smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.We were recommended to try several places to eat close by and we can thoroughly recommend The Harbour Lights for lunch and The Boatyard for dinner. As we took our car we found lots of nice places across the island and some lovely walks. The sunset over Peel Castle is beautiful. We will be telling our friends and will be back soon.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are good.

Well this B&B has so got the WOW factor. I can honestly say it is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. I can only echo the other reviews. Nikki & Nigel are a delightful couple and make you so welcome. They are also very knowledgeable, helpful and very interesting to talk to. Especially over the brilliant breakfasts. Nigel is an excellent cook and makes his own bread. Delicious !. Room spotlessly clean. Lots of tea, coffee, chocolate. So many toiletries if you run out ( I've never seen that before) Definitely would stay here again. We were here for TT week
You arrive a stranger and feel you leave as a friend.

Business trip. Stayed one night. Perfect. Attention paid to every detail. Forgot deodorant and hairspray but it was all there in the bathroom. The bedding was luxury, fine cotton and a beautiful, tasteful quilt I slept well. Breakfast amazing - so good I was almost late for work. Thank you.

Room Tip: Loved the yellow room
