Hotel chosen from internet after reading reviews. Totally lived up to expectations - staff went out of their way to be helpful - from the receptionist to all the waiting on staff. Lovely breakfast - high standard - freshly produced. I have breakfasted in many hotels and this hotel did not disappoint - excellent service and food. Rooms clean and adequate for our requirements. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast choice available. The hotel was spotless. A really lovely place to stay, I would definitely recommend The Royal Hotel and would love to stay again.
Good transport links to Newcastle, just 20 mins away. The Metro train service is a great way to get around and see Newcastle and surrounding areas.

Room Tip: The double suite we stayed in was excellent with great sea views.

We stayed here for one night just for a quick break - check in was quickly and very pleasantly done, the lady on reception was friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed in it. The location is right on the beach front and even in poor weather was a lovely view.

We visited the bar Noir attached to the hotel and again received brilliant friendly service, we ate at Davinchi's restaurant next door and the food spand service were amazing.

Breakfast next morning didn't let us down, good quality fresh food and lots of it!

We topped off our stay with a walk to St Mary's Lighthouse.

A really lovely stay and would recommend to anyone - well done and thank you The Royal

First class Hotel.
We stayed at the Royal Hotel Whitley Bay and booked in for two nights Tuesday the 8 October 2013 but enjoyed it so much we extended the stay one more night. The Hotel room over looked the sea front on the top floor. We had stayed in Blackpool the previous two nights at what can only be described as the hotel from hell. So what a joy it was to see a Hotel that is spotlessly clean with fabulous staff. The breakfast was outstanding with a great choice of full English or cold. The staff as stated were very pleasant and friendly so was the Lady owner whom we met on our last day.
Would we stay here again a big YES. Would we recommend this hotel Yes.
Thank you all again for making our stay one to remember for all the right reasons.
We will be seeing you again.

stayed here on saturday night the 12th october.
very small carpark & surrounding streets very busy.
reception staff, bar staff & breakfast staff very friendly & welcoming.
the breakfast was very good quality with lots of choice.
the downside was our room which was small & a little dated and the bathroom ridiculously small even though there was no bath just a shower.it is obviously very difficult to make rooms en suite in these older properties but this was just a little too cramped.
i think this property is worthy of a three & a half/three & three quarters rating for the reasonable price we paid.
would we stay here again.......possible not because of the room/bathroom but i would recommend the staff to anyone
