myself and my 2 last friends stay at this hotel every month and have been for the last 10 month we have always been made very welcome and nothing was a bother for the staff but this time we were gutted that johnny has left :( and i have to admit he was a miss he was a breath of fresh air always had a smile and a bit banter
still a fab hotel with friendly staff clean rooms and a lush breakfast

Had a 5 day golf tour of courses around here and unfortunately stayed at the Windsor. First impressions are good, impressive frontage and decent reception but the rooms were awful. Dirty stained carpets and uncomfortable beds. Plumbing hit and miss too. Staff are surly and unhelpful apart from Bruce who was a star.Residents bar shut at 12 most nights but Saturday night was open to all and sundry. Geordie shore wannebes roaming around the hotel trying every room to get a free bed for the night, would be quite daunting for couples and families. The hotel reflects the town-shabby and dated

This place was lovely, staff on arrival seemed attentive and very helpful, booking taxis etc they were more than patient with our late night arrival too after the wedding we'd attended. It was just the fact that our room although lovely was like an oven even with the window open. The other really major thing was the rush we felt at breakfast, a staff member was heard by myself to say "hurry them up or they'll be here till 12:00" I didn't appreciate this nor the fact they unplugged the toasting machine after I'd knocked it back on I WANTED MORE TOAST!!! I was also wanting to finish off with a yoghurt and some fruit but they whipped it all away before I had the chance, I would not have had a gripe if it wasn't for this issues, after a night on the booze I like a massive breakfast, just could've done without the attitude £71 the whole 1 night stay came to not bad at all but over-priced and rushed breakfast made it hard to swallow. Would stay again but will stand for none of that business next time.

Room Tip: double room excellent, I'm told the shower was incredible

Once again this hotel exceeded expectations. Yes, the decor is dated, but the warmth and friendliness of the staff, and the quality of the food at breakfast more than make up for old fashioned carpets. The room was clean and the towels were changed daily.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you want a quiet night. Room 17 was fine for us.

So we stayed at the Windsor Hotel for the weekend just gone from Friday to Sunday, on a family break away to enjoy the Sunderland Air Show.

On arrival, the receptionist was pleasant while she booked us in, however upon confirming booking we noticed that they had managed to muddle our booking and had us down for a double room (one double bed) rather than the family room (one double, one single) we had booked. We brought it up and after a bit of admin she managed to sort us out!

First impressions of the hotel once you leave the vicinity of the reception/first set of stairs is... Dated. The floor in the corridor creaks, carpets throughout have patterns on them i haven't seen outside of my nan's house ten years ago, and the general feel of the room we were in screamed 'old'. The only part that seemed up to date was the bathroom. Additional recommendation to them would be to add a few pictures around the rooms, brighten it up a bit.

Couldn't fault cleanliness, although the divan single bed wasn't exactly child friendly, ended up dragging mattress onto the floor the second night just so i could sleep without panicking every time my son rolled over.

So now onto the crux of the title... We were oh so lucky to receive one of the rooms at the front of the hotel, which supposedly has double glazing but you wouldn't think it. The hotel is based on a wonderful street which consists of a number of bars and clubs, with trade picking up from around 7pm, and gradually getting louder and more rowdy along the way to around 4:30am. We were convinced the first night that we'd left the window open a bit it was that loud. Trying to get a child to sleep through it all, let alone get a wink of sleep myself was practically impossible, think i snuck maximum two hours in the gap between the revellers going home and the hotel guests waking up and stomping off down the creaky corridor.

Needless to say, even if we had loved every other feature of this hotel, the fact that it was impossible to sleep in an establishment designed to host people who WANT to sleep at some point, avoids the point of it running.

In summary, modernise a little, update your website so ALL the facts are there (including the fact you're on a clubbing street), and get working on the windows and the corridors to make it a bit more "sleep friendly".

Loved my break at the windsor hotel, large clean rooms and super friendly staff, could not fault one thing. Defo be back, loads of private parking at the back entrance to hotel and the breakfasts were awesome from salmon to eggs Benedict. Loved it

Room Tip: We were given a back side room as the hotel is on one of the pub areas for whitley bay..... We heard...
