“A Pleasant Addition to the National Trust”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

Perfect surroundings make this a pleasant place to visit, even with a brisk wind blowing off the nearby North Sea.

“Dogs are allowed to a lot of areas”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

It is very early days yet but the National Trust is working very hard to improve at Seaton Delaval Hall. One of the improvements this year has been to allow dogs onto the majority of the site. Unfortunately however the previous review suggests that this isn't the case.
The wooded area that has been cordoned off is the new children's playscape area and so is not accesible by dogs.
Dogs are allowed in the Old Walled Garden, around the Pleasure Grounds and wooded areas to the South East of the Hall, on all the land to the North of the Hall between the buildings and the main road including the woods near the church bend, and in the Central Courtyard. The only areas that dogs are not permitted is in the formal gardens and children's play areas. Staff and volunteers are happy to offer any extra help or clarification or interpretation of the maps given out.

“Dog owners beware”
Reviewed 23 December 2011

We live nearby and have been planning to visit for a while so one sunny day we took our King Charles Spaniel out for a walk and popped in to Deleval hall. We are familier with Nat Trust places and knew that the dog would not be allowed 'indoors' but after paying to get in we were handed a leaflet that showed where dogs were allowed - nowhere - except the path from the carpark to the front lawn and a small area of woodland which was fenced off because it was too wet. We were not allowed access to the gardens or any other part of the grounds.

“Good for local history”

A nice time to spend a couple of hours. Gardens are lovely in Summer. Try the real Maltese ice cream in the cafe, just like the good old days.
