It had 3 things which were great - the location, half way between the high street and the sea, it was very dog friendly, and it was clean. Otherwise, a disaster! When we arrived the was a note saying "for check in, please call....", but when we did, there was no reply, and we had to try again. When we finally got through, it turned out that the key was under the mat. The TV didn't work, nor did the bedside lamp. The guy in charge seemed a little the worse for wear later on in the evening when we contacted him about the TV and the wifi code. The breakfast was so so. But the real killer was the very aggressive attitude to us as we left - we had booked through Expedia and therefore paid in advance, but he insisted he still wanted money off us, and got quite nasty about it. I showed him the relevant email, and eventually he backed off. I really would look for somewhere else!

We always go for basic accommodation, small B&B in small villages, hoping to find personality and human warmth. Not in this case. Now I understand why the only picture that you can find of this place is the little garden outside.... We arrived and were greeted by a sign on the door with the number to call to check in. The guy that runs it was having a bite at the pub (4,30 pm) and candidly said he forgot about us arriving. Great start!!!
Big room, high ceiling, lots of light. Furniture dated, something just out of a 60's movie. However I wouldn't have given it such a poor score if it wasn't for the horrible noises coming from the pipes, a bang and then crushing noise, like those garbage disposal you sometimes find installed under the kitchen sink. Coming from who knows where considering that, when we asked the owner, he couldn't say anything. It looked like he actually didn't notice or wasn't bothered by it! Breakfast of poor quality, freshly prepared but the ingredients left to desire. We pick this place for the proximity to the seafront and the lighthouse, I have to say there is not much more to Whitley Bay anyway (truth to be told we visited at the end of May, not peak season). Still I was expecting a bit less than a ghost town. The lighthouse is very charming though.....

this was just awful. the room was terrible, the man running the place was neither helpful or unhelpful. cant say he was unfriendly but a smile when we arrived mite have not made us have a bad vibe about it. was shown to room which was the first room from the front door. we had our dog so maybe he thought it the best place for us but it was a full glass door with a net curtain and we had to put a towel over it to try and get rid of light outside. our dog buffed at every person passing so we were feeling really uncomfortable. very run down and very dated. looked like a workmans b and b. bed uncomfortable, shower useless and more water running out of the cubicle than in it. breakfast in morning was not very nice and it didnt help watching an ant running up the side of the wall as i ate. wont be bak. whitley bay a big dissapointment in general

Room Tip: room awful would avoid

We actually stayed here for a month, and we were treated like family. The landlady was an amazing woman, and is now 1 of our best friends. The rooms WERE clean, stylish and the breakfast was fantastic. If anyone disagrees, then maybe they should visit some other B&B in Whitley (especially in the summer, when everyone is horrible drunk, fighting and basically being disrespectful to everyone in the B&B). The landlady is the cook, the cleaner, the bouncer and a genuine diamond!! Xx

Room Tip: Genuine, lovely, couldn't recommend more.

I missed check in time but was welcomed to the lodge and shown up to my room on the second floor.the room was small but adequate and was clean and tidy.
Breakfast was good there was fruit juice cereal and then a full English with tea and toast
The lodge was in a perfect position for the local bars and restraunts but was nice and quiet
I was alone on this trip and as such the lodge was of an acceptable standard however i wouldnt use it for a family trip

Should have written this ages ago, but never got round to it. Not a lot to say, The room was extremely cold, the bed uncomfortable and can't remember the breakfast, so it couldn't have made that much of an impression. at £25 per night, OVERPRICED, worth it for £20 as a contractor but not for a stay with family.
